Mookie - Catcher ball Game
I love summer picnics, and if you're going to have a picnic you've got to have games. We have spent many a great summer days having a picnic and games on the beach or in the park, but our favourite place is the river where there is a small ford where the kids can splash and play in the water or sit and watch the fish. It seems all the old school ways are disappearing and people don't realize just how much fun a cheap picnic can be. You don't have to spend the earth to have a good day out. Sorry I digressed a bit there!!!
Well we have a large assortment of outdoor toys for these occasions, from boules to croquet and tennis to badminton but my kids love to play this game. I bought a few years ago now and it is beginning to look rather scruffy but this summer it was used a great deal. I can't remember how much I paid for this but they are in Amazon now for around £8.50, so I think I may have to purchase a new one for next summer.
The item is a very simple design; the outer case is made of a round black plastic with a Velcro strap to secure it to your hand. The front is aluminous pink and green Velcro which is what catches the tennis ball. The tennis ball that we received with the kit was the same bright colours but we have long since lost it to the dog who decided to join in the game one day. However we have been using regular tennis balls since and they work just as well. The game is very hardy and trust me my family has two boisterous boys in it so I know hardy. I have seen cheaper options on the market but they don't seem quite so durable. The idea of the game is an adaptation of the simple game of catch but instead you catch the ball on the Velcro dish and then throw it to the other person who also has a Velcro dish strapped to their hand. My kids love it and even my two year old can join in, although he is still to master the skill...lol! They run around the park chasing missed balls and are ready for their picnic food when they have finished. My oldest even takes it out to play with his friends on the grassed area outside out home, and some of the dads even join in.
Overall this is a great toy for playing on the beach or in the park, and is suitable for both young and old. You can play gently with very little moving about or play aggressively and be completely worn out when you've finished. The latter being a fantastic workout. Well worth the price and I will definitely being renewing my set before next summer.
Summary: A great outdoor toy for all the family.
