“ Brand: MV Sports & Leisure / Type: Toy Ride-ons „
My son is Bob mad so when he asked us for a quad for Christmas 2006, we started to look around for something suitable. We came across the battery operated Scrambler from Bob the Builder and thought it would be perfect.
At the time they cost around £100 but have come down in price since. Online at Toys r Us they have a special offer for £79.99. They are also £84.99 at boots.com and Tesco have an unbelievable deal on at the time of writing and you can get this quad for £44.98. We also got a fantastic bargain and managed to find this online for £49.99. It was delivered complete in its box and comes with mains charger and instruction book. All you have to do is plug it in to the mains and charge over night and then it's ready to go. The charging point is quite easily found but also hidden away from little hands under the seat.
The scrambler is easily operated with a foot pedal. The first time my son tried it, it was a little jerky as he was nervous when it got moving!! But now he puts his foot down and off he goes! It also has a switch near the handlebars for forward and reverse. Please note that this switch should not be pressed while the quad is moving as it can damage the motor. Also reverse goes slightly slower than forward for obvious safety reasons.
The quad is advertised as doing 2mph maximum speed, so is ideal for younger children. I am not sure if it actually goes a little faster though when fully charged. Not much, but either that or I walk slow! My husbands guess is around 4mph so do be warned it is a bit faster than you expect.
The quad is easy to manoeuvre for a younger child and the only thing they need to be able to do is put their foot on the pedal and move the handlebars. My son took a while to grasp the idea of the forward and reverse but does pretty well now! It is quite wide so is very stable and I wouldn't think there is much chance of it tipping over. Scrambler comes with an auto-brake safety system so if your child lifts their foot off the pedal, it will automatically stop. This is a great safety feature and adds to piece of mind when my son is playing on it.
Fully charged we have taken the quad out for a good hour and the battery hasn't ran out. I have never had this problem so am not quite sure how long the battery does last but it seems more than adequate for the use you would expect it to get.
It is a good quality, strong toy and I think it will last for a long time yet. Recommended age is 2 years + and weight is up to 55lb. I do have to admit that me, my husband and most of our friends have tried this out though and it hasn't damaged it that I am aware of!! It does about 2mph with us on it!
In short, this is a great toy and a lot safer than the average battery operated quads I have seen. I always said that my son couldn't have one but this is much better and more suitable for his age. It is also light enough to pick up and carry when you are near roads (but heavy enough to be good quality) so your little builder can be safe when out and about. And if they dont want to ride it, get on it yourself!!

Ride around like Bob the Builder. This scrambler has a wide base for extra safety and stability. Travel up to 2 mph max speed and use the auto brake safety system for stopping. Includes a 6v Rechargeable battery and Charger.
