Ozbozz Nebulus Folding Scooter
Advantages: A nice scooter at a good price.
Disadvantages: The colour parts faded too quickly.
When looking for Christmas presents (last June! Lol!), I stumbled across what I thought was a good offer in one of my catalogues, which was a BOGOF (buy one get one free!),on exactly the product I was looking for, I love it when a plan comes together!
My son had got to an age where he was showing an interest in scooters, due to his age and the fact his school have about three "healthy living" days a year, meaning they have to bring a healthy lunch and their favourite forms of transport/exercise!
After looking around for a scooter that would be as appealing to my slightly older daughter too, but not so different in design that she would complain he was getting a better one (yes, they are that petty at times!), I was pleased to come across a scooter that not only looked sturdy, but came in a choice of colours, blue for my son and pink for my daughter!
The scooter is a "nebulus" branded item, this is not a brand I am familiar with, but wasn't too concerned!
The scooter is around a 1/3 smaller than a bog standard scooter, and what I would describe as a "mini" size, though still as useable by my (then)8 year old as effectively as my (then) 5 year old.
The main body of the scooter is made from silver coloured metal, with the small plastic wheels and the foam handle bar protectors being either in the bright blue or cerise pink, though there are a couple of other colours on offer too, I am sure I have seen a yellow and green.
My kids found it very easy to ride these from the start, even on my lumpy and uneven path with little to no difficulty, even my daughter who has trouble walking upright, let alone on something with wheels!
The standing board is much narrower than a normal sized scooter, and though it's aluminium (which could potentially get a bit wet and slightly slippy) has never caused any problems, even with the lack of non slip substance on the standing board.
One the back, and just above the wheel is a small metal curved "plate", that if going to fast, could be used as a brake, though my kids just usually put their feet onto the floor, never building up enough speed to use this!
When finished with, the scooters are small enough to be simply stored as they are, but for transporting the handle part is on a hinge, so with a quick release of the button by the front wheel (well I say quick it took us a while to work out how to do it, and my hubby is still the only one who can do it!), the scooter then becomes almost flat pack, perfect to be slid away somewhere, it only measures around 3-4" high once folded up.
Another good point about the folding mechanism is the fact that this doesn't assembling when purchased and taken home, you simple pull out of the box, and pull the handle into an upright position, sorted!
Any down sides, well apart from the fact they will inevitably grow out of them, only the fading of the colour parts.
I got these last summer for last Christmas, and they have been played with extensively, and most times put away in the shed when finished with, so I think my kids were disappointed upon finding that here really is very little difference between their scooters now the colour has (almost) faded from the handles and wheels, though this has not affected them using them in any way.
Price wise this cost me £19.99, which considering I got two was a fantastic offer, as I had allowed myself that much each scooter rather than two.
These are also available on www.amazon.co.uk.
These have been well used and loved scooters, but do lose a star due to how quick the colours have faded.
Thanks for reading x
