“ Brand: Ozbozz / Scooter / Age: 6 Years+ „
My daughter had long passed the time when her Tweenies three wheeled scooter was 'cool' so for her 5th birthday we decided to look for a new scooter for her. She had been coveting her friend's pink disney princess scooter for a while but I couldn't find a similar one anywhere. However when I saw this scooter with pink flashing lights I felt quite confident that she would be happy with it - and she was!
It does state on the box that this scooter is for six years plus, but having seen her try out those belonging to her friends I really did not think this would be a problem. It isn't - size wise it's perfect for her and she's a small five year old!
The scooter has an aluminium frame and is foldable which makes it very easy to put away or take out in the car. It has two parts that fold - the part that stands up that you hold on to (can't think what it's caled) folds away from the base and also the handlebars fold inwards making it nicely compact. When you fold it out ready to use it has a locking system which makes it feel very secure and safe!
The scooter has pink foam like handlebars which are quite soft for a small child's hands to be holding on to. It also has two pink wheels which helps to fulfil my daughter's requirements for as much pink as possible! The handlebar is adjustable so it is suitable for children of various different heights and it's relatively simple to adjust it. The scooter will take the weight of anyone up to 50 kilograms but I have to confess that both my husband and I (and I suspect we are way over that weight limit!) have had a go - just for demonstration purposes of course!
The thing that really delighted my daughter though is that along either side of the foot part there are a string of flashing lights. These are operated by batteries and it's worth knowing that these are not supplied with the scooter which is a bit of a pain. Luckily we realised this before we gave it to our daughter! You need to have four AA batteries at the ready! Once it's on, it really does look like all these little pink lights are moving! The lights are activated by an on/off switch underneath but you do need to remember to turn it off when you're not using it!
There are a couple of warnings on the box which are basically common sense! Firstly you are advised to only use on flat surfaces as it won't move so well on rougher ones. We have since found out that it doesn't flow very well on a bumpy gravel path which resulted in our daughter giving up and Mummy having to carry it! It's not heavy but you do start to notice the weight after a while! The other warning is against racing, jumping and generally showing off! It's not really likely with a five years old but I won't be putting ideas in her head!
This really has been a successful buy as far as my daughter is concerned. She loves the appearance of the scooter and was quite taken by the name too - Flashing Storm Pink Power. She also really enjoys scooting on it and is increasing in confidence every day! There is quite a skill in riding on a scooter hence the need for my little demo! I have to confess that I really enjoyed having a go too! It will go at quite a speed too so you do need to warn your child to be careful - whether they take any notice is another matter of course!
We bought this scooter from Amazon where it is available for only £19.95 which I think is great value!
The aluminium scooter has an easy folding and lock system with rear brake and 120mm wheels.
