Advantages: Great for younger kids
Disadvantages: Self assembly, flimsy looking
My 2 1/2 year old daughter absolutely loves Peppa Pig and she had seen a skateboard on Jake and the Neverland Pirates and wanted one, well I wasn't about to buy her a skateboard at her age so I thought I would get her the next best thing...a scooter.
The scooter is made up of a combination of metal and plastic(plastic being the bit your child stands on and also the wheels(didn't look as if it was going to be very safe to me).
Oh my god I have to assemble this thing!!! There was no mention of this on the site and I almost sent it back(putting things together is not my forte, unless it's furniture). I was surprised at how easy it was to assemble, from putting the decals on to attaching the handlebars and foot bar, then I got to the back wheel axle. After about 10 minutes I managed to assemble that part, (I have since read other reviews about other people having problems with this part) while my impatient daughter looked on anxiously.
It did look a bit flimsy once assembled(The wheels and foot bar are made of cheap looking plastic), and I didn't think it was going to last 5 minutes in the hands of a heavy handed 2 year old, but I have been pleasantly surprised at how well it has lasted. I have taken my daughter to the shops on it, it has been knocked over, dragged about(my daughter ties a skipping rope to the handle bars and the other end to her trike and drags either the trike or the scooter behind her). It is still in really good condition considering the amount of abuse she has put it through, and she has had it for 6 months, for something that cost so little, I think that's a great bargain!
Summary: Great little first scooter for younger kids, shame about the self assembly
