Brilliant for the Price

Advantages: Very Cheap, Easy to Use
Disadvantages: Bad Stickers and Wheel Trims
We got this Pingu Scooter for the grandson a little while back at the sale price of £14 from Amazon which was a bargain. Amazon haven't currently got it in stock, but you can get it from lots of other places including Discount Bicycles which is an online shop that offers this for £24.99 and no delivery charge.
I wasn't expecting this to be anything brilliant given the really low price, but I've been quite pleased with this so far, despite a few little annoying things that we should have expected from something so cheap.
When this first arrived, I had to assemble it. I was really annoyed to find that the motiffs on this are stickers and that a lot of them had been slapped on runched up or upside down. It's really hard to explain to a kid that there's nothing you can do, the "seal of approval" (Robbie) will just have to stay upside down. Most of the stickers were stuck down too much for me to move them or smooth them out unfortunately so they just had to stay wonky.
As with all cheap character trikes and bikes and things, the plastic character board at the front is attached with cheap plastic ties. This one has stayed put quite well actually, unlike the plastic ties that let the Thomas plate fall off the grandson's bike!
The final problem with this is that the rear wheel covers have come off and been lost already. They clip into place, but work themselves loose during use. The wheels look just fine without them fortunately, so it might be worth not putting them on in the first place to avoid disappointment when they start to come off. For the record, ours started to come off with the first use, and an Amazon reviewer has complained of the same problem.
Besides all these bad points about the presentation of this, the functioning of the scooter makes this a worthwhile purchase if you pick it up cheaply. The wheels move easily, it isn't very heavy so an adult can carry it when the child wants a break, and it's easy to steer too.
The grandson has been getting quite a lot of use out of this. He finds it easy to get around and he can squeeze both foot onto the base plate for cruising along nicely. The back wheels are just far apart enough to make this balance easily without being too clumpy. I think this is well worth the price we paid for it, but anything more than £20 and I think you might be disappointed with this because of the cosmetic issues.
Summary: Recommended Cheap
