I love to spend time outside in the garden during the warmer months, but one of the things I didn't have was a sand pit for Lauren to play in (it was about the only thing she doesn't have!). About two years ago I managed to pick up a Step 2 Crabbie Sandbox.

This is quite a fun sandbox, it comes in the shape of a big crab and is bright red in colour. It comes fully assembled (which my other half loved!) and it measures H = 41cm, W = 119cm, D = 121cm. The two claws and back legs act as seats and I have sat on these and it feels quite stable. The size also means that both Lauren and me can sit in the sand comfortably.

Because of the size, you will need a lot of sand to fill it (it holds up to 130kg) I tend to stock up on this from Tescos at the end of summer when they are selling it off cheap. The amount of sand you need to use also means that when it is full, it cannot be moved.

It normally retails for around £89.99 + delivery (£4.99) this available in the manufacturer's website, www.step2uk.com but also from Toys R Us.

I love the size of this sand pit, both myself and Lauren can sit on the edge and play comfortably and the side feel really sturdy.

Overall, I would recommend this sand pit, although it may seem expensive compared to other versions on the market, the quality is fantastic, the plastic is really thick and sturdy. It has been in out garden for 2 years now and still looks like new, it has been left outside all this time and hasn't suffered hardly any sun damage. The lid is really handy for when we have done playing, I can just pop it back on top and because it is waterproof, it keeps the sand really dry and secure.
