Tesco Bubble Wand
Advantages: Produces great large bubbles well made easy to use
Disadvantages: Tube gets full for small bubbles quickly
Bubbles are a great favourite in our house and it is one of the things my 4 year old son loves playing with in the garden. When I saw this large bubble wand last year in Tesco I thought it was a great idea and would enable us to have large bubbles that are fun to play with.
The bubble wand is very simply packaged, a large tube with a screw top lid that has the wand in it. The one we have is clear with a blue top so it is very useful for you to see how much bubble liquid you have left in it. The lid screws in very well and has resulted in no leaks at all from the tube despite it being stored horizontally so packaging wise it does seem simple is best.
The wand itself is nice and large and the handle is nice and chunky to hold, this fits nicely into both my sons hands for him to move and manipulate as well as mine. The wand is made from a soft plastic and is not ridged meaning when you are trying to fill the wand with bubble mixture it fills very easily. We find that gently waving the wand in the air or in the case of my son spinning around in a circle produces large glistening bubbles straight away with no need to blow them. The bubble mixture seems to produce a good couple of turns of bubbles and generally at produces10-15 bubbles per waft with the wand till the mixture runs out. The only quibble I do have with the wand is that putting it in and out of the tube does eventually produce a lot if micro bubbles in the tube meaning that the effectiveness of the wand gradually decreases and you have to leave the mixture to settle down for about 10 minutes after about 10-15 minutes of use before you can make bubbles again.
Fun wise as with most bubbles half the fun is catching and popping the bubbles this wand is great for this as the bubbles are so big my son loves not only trying to catch them and pop them with his hands but he likes to practice kicking them too. The large bubbles the wand produces is great fun for trying to get them with different body parts and can become a great game such as who can pop one with their nose etc. and is great way to get my son active in the garden.
I would definitely recommend this bubble wand at around £2 for the wand it is great value and certainly is standing the test of time. As Tesco's also do bubble refill mixture it also means you can top it up with ease and keep the wand and tube working well past a single use meaning it is great value for money. The only drawback is the way small bubble accumulates in the tube after around 10 minutes and then having to wait till you can go again but for the money I can definitely put up with this minor inconvenience.
Summary: A great large bubble wand for the garden and great value for money
