Tesco Bubble Wand
Disadvantages: Ours broke
My kids love to blow bubbles and we have loads of the little small bottles of bubbles around the house that they always receive in their party bags when they go to a friends party. These are quite small though so for this lovely hot weather we've been having I've bought them larger bubble wands from Tesco so they can have fun in the garden with them and really make some good bubbles.
I was fairly impressed with the wands to begin with but they definitely have a limited time frame in which they are fun and then my kids soon get a bit unimpressed with them. It's a good job they were cheap, I think they only cost me a couple of pounds each but they were fun while they lasted.
The bubble wand looks just like a big wand and after we have blown bubbles we often play Star Wars with them as they look a bit like a light sabre, it's amazing the fun you can have!! The wand has a handle at the top which twists into the tube that contains the bubbles mixture. When you pull the wand out there is a large plastic hoop which is where the bubble mixture hold in order for you to blow and form the bubbles. The fun thing you can do with this wand instead of blowing is to just to wave the wand around and have the bubbles form like that. I find my kids can do this easier than they can blow through the wand so its a great way for them to have fun with bubbles.
I do have a couple of issues with these bubble wands however. In order for the hoop to catch all the bubble mixture and make sure you can blow a bubble, the wand needs to be full or almost full. If this wand is half full its almost impossible for a film to form over the wand and for you to blow a bubble which is a bit infuriating. Even pumping the wand or tipping it up does not help so you do need to refill these fairly often.
Secondly, the last two wands that I bought broke really easily. The wand actually came off from the handle at the top and so in order to get it out you had to fish it out of the tube which gives you messy fingers and then it's hard to blow bubbles without the handle. It hasn't happened to other ones I bought before so maybe these ones were just a bad batch but it is something to look out for.
All in all, a great way to have some fun blowing bubbles in the garden.
