Tesco Play Sand
Advantages: Cheap and clean
If you are going to have a sand pit then you need to buy sand, sort of obvious I guess but you do need to bear in mind the additional cost and also the cost of replaceing the sand when it gets dirty or if a neighbours cat decides to use your sand pit as a large, convenient toilet when you have forgot to move it in at night or cover it up.
The sand is sold in 10kg bags and each one costs just under £3 however some times they have bulk buy discounts running so if you have a large sand pit then it is worth stocking up for when you want to replace the sand. The sand comes in a robust plastic bag which is plenty thick enough provided it is handled with a certain degree of care and there is a handle at the top to help with the carrying and moving it over short distances. Age wise the packaging says it is suitable for children 18 months and over, so basically once they are old enough to have learnt that sand does not taste nice and to recognise that fact in the future.
The sand is a nice clean off white colour and is very fine, it is easy to move around and to create shapes however you may need to add a little water for any larger constructions. Being so fine it is easy to get out of clothes and also little bodies and the sand will not clog up your washing machine if you miss any before putting clothes in the was, also it is non staining as well.
There is not a great deal to say about this product other than the quality is good and the price is very reasonable and it is the only sand that we use at it works out so cost effective.
Summary: Great product
