Tesco Play Sand
Advantages: It's okay, the grandchildren like it
Disadvantages: not as fine and good quality as the pound shop!
We bought this bag of sand from Tesco about 3 weeks ago and it's been a big hit so far with the grandchildren, however, I don't think it is as good as the sand we bought from the pound shop.
This sand comes in a big plastic bag and contains 10kg. It cost us £2.99.
At the moment my grandchildren are spending lots of time outside really making the most of this weather and I love being able to give them the outside toys that they play with for a long time. My grandchildren seem to adore sand and will play quite happily in it. When they came to visit me at the caravan we bought some sand from the pound shop and they played in it quite happily for ages so when we got home we bought some more but this time it was this sand from Tesco.
One thing I noticed as soon as it came out of the bag is that it is paler than the other sand and the consistency of it seems a bit more clumpy than normal as though it already has a bit of water in it to hold it together. My grandchildren don't mind or even notice and carry on playing with this happily.
I find it difficult to get out of the bag because there is such a lot in it it's heavy to lift but because it's quite clumpy it is hard to just get out, it seems to come out in clumps. I struggle to hold it up to let it just 'pour' out.
Although I don't think that this is the best sand, it's not as grainy and fine as you would expect, my grandchildren don't seem to mind it at all and will play quite happily in it. We've found if you ad more water they can create lots of exciting things almost sculpting it with their toys.
I think I will probably buy more in future from the pound shop.
