Advantages: learns co-ordination and sight skills.

Disadvantages: none

From the age of 3 my son has hassled me for a bow and arrow set. I swore I would not buy him one due to I didn't agree with letting him learn to shoot things. I finally got broken down to the idea but explained to my son if he really wanted one he could save his pocket money and buy it himself (secretly hoping he would want to buy something else).

He was 5 when he saw this and he had taken his money with him so I had no excuse not to let him have it.

In the packet you have a good quality wooden bow, a set of 3 arrows with suckers on the end and the grooves in the end that will allow the child to fit them to the eleastic on the bow. You also have a bag to hold the arrows in (makes them feel like the real Robin Hood), and a target board for them to aim at. I will advise that if this is going to be used in a house you really need a long enough run and would be good to stick the target on a door due to no attachments come with it.

There are instuctions in the pack that show diagrams on how this is to be used which are large to see and the child can understand.

I found that this toy wasn't initially as bad as I thought and he has not tried to use it too shoot at anything other than the target. It is of high quality and has also not been broken, the wood is strong and the suckers have been attached very well and haven't fallen off yet. My son has taken care of this toy due to it looking like a real bow and arrow and having the bag to store the arrows.

We bought this from Greenwood Forest Park while on holiday this year and paid £12.99 (this is where he learnt to shoot real arrows too). So far this has been a good investment and with the right teaching they will use it appropriatly.

Summary: Good toy that is not as bad as I originally thought
