“ Manufacturer: TP / Type: Outdoor Play Equipment „
**What is it?**
The TP Protective trampoline cover is a cover designed for 14 foot play trampolines, like many people now have in their gardens.
**Price and Availability**
The trampoline cover is available online at Amazon and independent retailers, and in selected offline stores such as larger garden centres.
The price is a little on the steep side at £29.99.
The TP protective trampoline cover comes in one colour - a dark green to complement the trampoline itself. It's fashioned in a strong plastic type material and it goes over the outside of the trampoline, tucking around about three or four inches down the edge / leg. It looks smart and blends in well outdoors.
When the protective trampoline cover is in use, the trampoline is protected from leaves, bird and animal faeces, rain puddles forming in the middle of the trampoline and dirt building up on it. Obviously, you cannot use the trampoline whilst the cover is in place!
I have a few, unfortunately. One I've already covered is the price. I do think that £29.99 is steep for what basically is a fitted plastic sheet for a trampoline and really you could use a plastic cover for a bike or a bit of tarpaulin for a few quid and get the same protection. Also, and this is more of an issue for me as I have a young child, you cannot use the TP protective trampoline cover when there is a protective net around the trampoline (if I had known this I wouldn't have bought it at all!) this means that I either don't bother using the protective cover at all, or I have to faff about removing the safety net.
Another minor problem is that when the cover is in use, it tends to create a little habitat for snails in between the cover and the trampoline centre. But I suppose you'd get this with any cover!
If you have a trampoline with no safety net then I guess that this would be a decent cover if the price were not so high. However, as most people do buy a net, those with children especially, then this is almost pointless. You might as well save £30 and use a few bin liners..at least you can leave the net in place!
So no, overall I don't think this is that great a buy and I can only award it a generous 2 / 5.
We have a 14 foot trampoline in the garden and, as such, it's virtually a necessity to have a trampoline cover to protect it from the elements. We have a TP 14ft Protective Trampoline Cover which I bought directly from www.activitytoysdirect.com for the price of £24.98, which included postage and packaging. I know that when I bought it I thought it was pretty expensive and I hadn't been expecting to pay so much for just a cover, but having looked around a bit, this price does seem fairly standard. There are different sizes of covers depending on the size of the trampoline and the smaller trampoline covers are a little cheaper - but essentially for a piece of fabric it is expensive.
The cover is made of a lightweight fabric that can be folded up into a small sized sheet when not in use. It comes with a small storage bag and so if you're not using it then it's good to have something to keep the mat safe in - and also it stops the garden from looking scruffy. The fabric is grass green and so it blends in well in the garden.
The mat is secured to the trampoline at the sides with straps that can be secured with strong velcro. These velcro straps work really well and are easy to secure even if you're doing it alone - which I usually am. They are pretty self-explanatory to use and they literally just secure around the perimeter of the trampoline without leaving any gaps. In my experience, even the strongest winds do not blow the covering off and so the trampoline surface always remains protected when its been put in place. It is also easy to remove and is usually just a matter of folding the mat down on the trampoline and removing it - and then placing it in the bag if you so wish.
Because the covering is waterproof then the trampoline is protected from rain, although the surface can still become wet because of the moisture from the air and so particularly in the early morning the surface can become wet underneath the trampoline. It if has been raining heavily there is often a collection of rainwater on the surface of the cover -and so then it's a matter of trying to gently lift up the cover at one end to top the water off (and it's easier to do this if there is two of you!). There are drain holes for water around the perimeter, but I don't really think these work very well. The covering does dry quickly if the rain water is poured off and then if it's left on the grass to dry out. The covering does protect the surface 100% from being clear of leaves, debris, bird poo etc. and so it's always clean and ready to use when my kids so desire.
Overall, I think this is an okay product. It does what it's supposed to do, but I do think it's quite expensive for what it is.
