Advantages: fit fun
Disadvantages: ?
Boing boing
Ehh my dear do you remember the fun that children used to have 35 years ago on a space hopper? You remember those big orange plastic pear shaped balls with a kangaroo face. It had two ears/horns. You sat on this bouncy rubber ball and held its ears/horns and boing boing of you went bouncing across the playground.
I was too old at 18 to have one of these to play with but my career with children gave me many opportunities to watch children playing with them ohh they looked real fun , OK so I snuck a few turns on them while no one was looking .
The space hopper was first thought of and invented in Italy by Aquilino Cosani in the 1960s and introduced to the uk in 71
There are several other designs of space hopper available now in different colours and with different characters on them .Also nostalgic people who used those first space hoppers can buy an adult version of this first space hopper
This retro space hopper is bigger than a children’s hopper its 60 cm diameter.
The space hopper is made of strong PVC. It has those horns on it and that black face identical to the original.
It is said this space hopper is bouncier than the original. Apparently one of these space hoppers has been used in a TV shows e g big brother and east Enders.
A space hopper can be used as a way to get exercise; it is good for cystic fibrosis sufferers as the bouncing helps breathing...
I have a child at school that used his small space hopper to help him in balancing and developing hid leg muscles.
Generally a space hopper is a fun way to get exercise. As an adult it might take you a while to get over feeling like a fool using it for the first times.
If a group of you have space hoppers you can play games, have races against each other.
This retro adult hopper is made and marketed by TST toys. If you want one you can buy one for £9.99 at http://www.hawkin.com/rkmain.asp?PAGEID= 20670&STK_PROD_CODE=08826&adnetwork=af& ;AID=AF01
Its £9.50 at http://www.find-me-a-gift.co.uk /search_results.asp?keywords=hopper&adnetwork= af
These space hoppers will puncture so do not hop on a floor with old nails or broken glass.
This retro space hopper is fairly strong if it puncture you will need to find a puncture repair kit.
A adult sized space hopper takes a lot of inflating a foot pump is best . Some outlets supply one with the hopper.
I think this could be a fun toy to own .
Summary: A copy of the space hopper drom the seventies
