It is a 3 wheel tri scooter meaning it gives little one a little more balance with 2 wheels at the back and 1 at the front and it has a rather wide foot plate so they can stand and push very easily with room to move which is good. The whole frame is made form metal and plastic and so very durable which it needs to be for young children to use as it does get bashed and dropped a lot. My cars scooter I am reviewing differs a little from the above but only in cosmetic appearance .We brought this for my little boy last Christmas 2010 when he was 3 the age recommendation is for 3 -4years plus and he absolutely loves cars not as much as Thomas but a very close second and as it was on offer at Tesco for the small price of £5 we decided to purchase it for him. This usually retails at around £15 and for a character scooter in our experience is rather cheap I do love a bargain! My son had owned a Thomas the tank engine Scooter when young and after the wheel broke I bought him one of the silver scooters but he struggled with it and kept falling off and actually played on his scooter far less since he had a more grown up version. I had been thinking that he needed to be taken a step back which can be quite difficult to do when your four year old little boy wants to be like the big boys. We spotted on a car boot a Disney Cars scooter for £2. As he has been into Cars he immediately fell in love with it. We bought this for our sons Christmas when he was 3 and a half and just know he would be delighted as he was a huge Disney Cars fan. When it arrived it was in a lovely big box with a handle on top, which incidentally we have kept for him to keep all this Cars toys in, and when we opened it. It looked very easy to put together and the instructuins were clearly written and had very precise detailed illustrations. Within 10 minutes the whole thing was put together.
