Wendy house.

You can be daddy I will be mummy ,she can be sister, he can be the baby he cries all the time anyway. I am going to make tea granny is coming tidy the house daddy.

Playing house I am sure we have all done it when we ere children.
It is good to have a playhouse. Somewhere a child can call its own, no adults except by invitation.
There are many manufactured playhouses plastic ones, wooden ones . Nursery’s and reception classes in schools have house corners or Wendy houses.They are a valuable learning toy.

In a lot of homes there is not enough room for a Wendy house to be erected but a child may find a corner or somewhere to use as his/ her house (yes boys as well as girls can and do play house) a favourite place to make a house is under the table or behind the sofa I used to play under the table with the table cloth on it (more secret) and give my dolls cups of tea pretend to be my mum “ do you want a cup of tea Ellen” “you know my little girl Mary has been so naughty”

A good place to have a Wendy house is outside.
A garden shed is a good place cleared of all garden junk .A few house toys installed a cooker, a small chair a table some cupboards/drawers. A toy telephone a toy tea set a few dolls a dolls cot/bed any house toys or real ones you no longer need.
A garden shed can be converted into a playhouse easily then back to a shed when no longer used for play.

There are a few Wendy houses that can be used outside put up like a tent.These are good but I prefer to have the shed it is always there and does not need taking down, put inside at night.

I had a Wendy house my dad made me a shed outside. Dad put a telephone link into the house in it so I could get called in without them having to come and get me.
I used to have my secret club meeting in there, no one entered with out the secret knock and a password.
On a summers day we would be allowe
d to eat my tea in my house.
I kept dressing up clothes in there.
We made magic spells , they did not work my sister did not turn into a frog . I was not a princess but I pretended to be.
I used to sweep up magic dust I was invisible my dad never saw me pick the strawberries and eat them.

A Wendy house helps promote social skills, how to play, share with others. Play practicing for real life.
Children practise how it feels to be ill in bed, practice for how it feels to be mummy and daddy arguing, kissing.
Practicing having a party. Practicing all their experiences.
I love watching children play house you can see and hear other people in their actions, the way they tell their dolls off. The way they cuddle them. The way they make and serve dinner.
A lot of children’s play actions are copied from grown ups or the telivision. By playing they are developing their own skills.

Not just social skills but manipulative skills, how to pour a cup of tea, make the bed, put the nappy on dolly, stir the dinner.

I could go on for ages.
If you have the space inside or out I would certainly recommend a Wendy house for your child.

Must go and play house now washing up and vacuuming to do, oh I forgot its real not play I am grown up have fun playing LOL Mary
