“ Brand: Worlds Apart / Type: Playhouse / Tents „
I bought this pop up sunsafe tent earlier in the year and after this week of stunning weather have been very pleased that I did. The tent I have bought is a different colour to the one above but otherwise looks the same, I found it in T K Maxx late spring time for a bargain price of £10.
The purpose of this tent, as well as being a fun garden/beach/park toy is to protect the skin from the sun by the means of a sun factor built into the fabric of the tent (factor 50). It is a similar idea to the sun suits that babies can wear to cover up which also have factor 50 protection built in.
The tent comes in a small circular bag with a strap which makes it easy to carry over your shoulder. The bag is the same bright primary colours as the tent which I bought.
When you take the tent out of the bag it pops up easily, you don't really have to do anything more than giving it a quick shake. It has 4 sides, one of which has a ventilation area which can be covered or uncovered depending on how hot it gets in the tent. The inside has a covered floor and an additional piece which can be used as a door or an "entrance" ground mat.
On the four bottom corners of the tent are peg holes (pegs are provided) to secure to the ground and there are also 4 pockets for filling with sand if you are at the beach and cannot use pegs.
Thet tent will hold 2 small toddlers at the most (or one baby and lots of toys.)
There are a few downsides with this tent. Firstly, it can get very hot inside even with ventilation flap open, so the child cannot use it for too long. Also, if you have a smaller child who is crawling (as I do) they will crawl out before too long anyway. The latter isn't really a fault of the product, just something to bear in mind.
The only major product fault in my opinion is that it is very tricky to fold back upto the compact circular shape it started as. I have resigned to the fact that I can only get it to a strange triangular shape which will fit into the bag but sticks out of the top!
Overall a good value and quality product, which could also be used indoors after the summer.
My sister lives in Great Yarmouth; she lives about a quarter of a mile from the beach. In summer she spends a lot of the time on the beach (weather permitting), with her two children. I wanted to buy a present that both children would get some use from, after pouring through the Argos catalogue; I spotted the new pop up tents. I didn't think much of them, until I spotted a tent called The Pop Up Sunsafe Tent, straight away I knew this would make an ideal present for the children. The Sunsafe Tent has exactly the same features as the ordinary Pop Up Tent. It pops up in seconds; it's extremely compact and easy to store. The Tent is also shower proof, but not waterproof. It can be used indoors and outdoors. The Sunsafe costs £2 more than the ordinary tent, but you get the added benefit of an UV resistant tent, it has a special nylon, which helps to reflect sunlight and block UV rays. It also has a special ventilation system which helps to prevent the tent getting to hot. Last be not least it features a wide door opening, which rolls out to form an additional groundsheet area. My sister and the children loved this tent, and they did use it throughout the summer, the children loved playing in it, and my sister was secure in knowing that the children were protected from the sun, while they were in the tent. It's winter now, but the tent hasn't been thrown in the cupboard, the kids still use it indoors. This tent it excellent value for money, with the added benefit of UV protection.
Recognised by the Health Education Authority to be a provider of high sun protection, this tent aims to protect your child from the sun's harmful UV rays whether on the beach or in your backyard
