AF Screen-Clene
by RedFlag
When it comes to cleaning products for computer screens, I have to say that AF Screen Clean is one of the best products that I have come across on the market today, its amazing. We all know that when you use your computer or laptop continuously, visable marks quickly start appearing, and they can often become really annoying. I have ... tried a few products over the years, and this is my favourite, as it dont leave any drip marks from the wipe and my laptop can be used straight away, no need for drying time.
This product itself is a liquid which you need to squirt onto your monitor, and then wipe away. This itself is very cheap in my opinion, often less than £5. However, you can also purchase wipe that are designed to be used with this product, but they can be quick expensive, especially when you tend to use the Screen Clean a lot, so it money is tight, I would definitely recommend the use of this product, but in conjuction with some sort of roll, like kitchen or toliet roll for example. It is effortless, so easy to use, which is certainly an advantge.
Like I said previously, I has tried a lot of similar products, yet the AF Screen Clean definitely comes out on top as being my favourite, and I would recommend to all that are looking for this sort of item for there computer cleaning needs. One other point I should make, is that not only can you use it on computer screens, but I sometimes use on my TV, but seen as it isnt designed for that, I wouldnt recommend it for that use, it may work for me, but not for you. Thanks for reading. Read the complete review |

AF Screen-Clene
by JJJJ
Apart from giving them a quick once over every few weeks with the soft Hoover attachment, I really don't keep my computer screens as clean as I perhaps should. Although my desktop PC isn't too bad in terms of dust and grime, my laptop often gets dirty due to the sheer amount of fingermarks / bodily fluids (only joking) on the display. My ... usual solution is to use Windolene wipes - but these frequently have too much liquid on them which can be damaging to the computer itself. The second problem with Windolene is the fact that with a non-glass (i.e laptop) screen, you'll still see faint smears when it dries and therefore more rubbing is required.
A solution to the problem presented itself to me when I noticed a product called AF Screen Clene Spray in a clearance sale at my local computer supplies shop. The spray was on offer for only £1.50, although the regular retail price is £5.10.
Specifications & Use

Arriving in a blue and silver 250ml can with a spray top, the product is easy to apply (I spray directly onto the screen), and a couple of pumps is usually enough. It's primarily designed to be used with glass screens, but I often use it on the plastic types with good results. When I bought the spray it came free with some soft lint-free wipes - although I am aware that from many retailers these don't come with the purchase. What I can say is that the results are far better when the wipes are used, as they don't seem to attract as much static as kitchen roll or a standard yellow duster. In general, the spray cuts through greasy marks very quickly and with little effort. You'll not notice too much of an aroma when using the product - except for a mild chemically smell which isn't unpleasant.

Overall, I have been very impressed with AF's Screen Clene spray in the short time that i've used it - smears are removed with hardly any effort, and it's easy to control the amount of the product that you want to apply. If you ever see a can for less than £2 I would recommend giving it a go - the full Amazon price of over £5 however is perhaps too much for a product of this nature. Read the complete review |

Startech DVI to VGA Cable Adapter
by williams91
Recently I was given a monitor to test out that had a VGA port on it only, amidst all of my computer peripherals and components I just for the life of me couldn't find a VGA cable or adapter. This was tragic as it meant that I couldn't test the monitor and complete my work, in desperation I shot up to the local computer shop to see what ... I could purchase there to give me a helping hand. There was plenty that I could have bought such as cables and twin adapters and other such products but I chose the StarTech DVI to VGA adapter.
I chose this because it was only £2.99 and this meant that I wouldn't have any more wires trailing around the back of my computer just being a health hazard. So when I took this out of the casing the first thing I did was drop it, sounds silly but I did drop it on purpose to test how well it could take a beating. The heard rubber casing surrounding the two ports was incredibly tough and I'm pretty sure you could throw this around all day and it would still work.
The adapter itself is pretty small as I did see some chunky looking ones but this thing wasn't a problem in the size department. It's a standard size for a DVI port and then shrinks towards the smaller VGA port. The rubber casing is all black and is tough and durable.
Plugging this thing in wasn't a problem but I found the screws on the VGA side really hard to screw in because it was so small and I just could get my fingers around them to twist them in. In the end I had to compromise and leave the thing unscrewed and hope that it wouldn't fall out. So for people with bigger fingers like me beware this can be a problem, as I was just testing a product I want too bothered about this but if it was a permanent placement then it would be of concern.
This did display perfectly and it is a product which I may use again, it's a strange product to say if I would recommend or not because it does do its job but the fact that it is really hard to screw in on the VGA end really lets this down for a permanent product. On the plus side its durable, it will last and it can reduce the amount of wires you have behind your computer or monitor. Read the complete review |
