This is another one of those computer related products that I've had lying around in my office drawer for ages, using it from time to time, but pretty much taking for granted how useful it is. Very often (for those of you who work with computers) you will find that your screen will get very dirty over time - either through finger marks, coffee spills (if you are really careless!!), or just from plain dust and dirt that gets generated around the office. This dust attraction is often generated by static, which builds up on your screen through normal use, and acts like a magnet for attracting dust.
Now you can use a damp cloth to clean the screen, but you will probably find that whilst it cleans well, it will just leave smears all across your screen. Which is where this AF Screen Clene comes in.
It comes in a simple grey and blue 250ml bottle at a cost of around £4, and has a manual pump spray mechanism on the top. The fluid itself is effectively a glorified window cleaning solution that you use to clean your computer screen with. However, it does have added benefits in that it also claims to kill 99.9% of the bacteria, and also has anti-static properties when used, meaning that it will neutralize that static build up on your screen, thereby preventing it from attracting dirt and dust.
To use it, the idea is that you either spray it on to a cloth and then wipe the cloth across the screen to clean it, or spray it directly on to the screen and then use the cloth, where I normally find that 2 squirts is sufficient to give a 19" screen a really good clean. The spray does have a very faint chemical smell to it when used, but nothing so strong that you are going to be overcome with fumes whilst sat at your desk.
For best results, it is better to use what is known as a link free cloth to ensure that it doesn't leave any dust or bits across the screen as you wipe. This sort of cloth is not supplied, but is the sort of cloth that you normally find in your glasses case and used to clean your glasses with, although I have used ordinary kitchen roll with this spray and achieved equally good results.
Either way, a 'top tip' that I can give is to use a certain technique when wiping the screen with a cloth. Often, people will just wipe a screen round and round, which is great, but will often just redistribute any dirt and dust. The best way I have found is to wipe the screen horizontally from side to side. In this way, any dirt that the cloth doesn't pick up is left at the sides of the screen. If you then give a quick wipe vertically down the left and right hand edges of the screen, you will often find that that process will then leave you with a spotlessly clean screen.
The end result on your screen after a clean is good and smear free, and the fluid sprayed on does dry very quickly. I've also found that the screen tends to stay that way slightly longer than normal, probably because those anti-static properties are doing their job well.
In summary, whilst this is a very good screen cleaner, personally I think the cost at £4 is a little high. OK, it is a brilliant cleaner, and you get the added benefits of 99.9% of bacteria being killed and the additional anti-static properties, and for those properties alone, I think it is worth 5 stars. But balancing the price aspect in, I think it just taints it slightly, and hence only a 4 star recommendation.
When it comes to cleaning products for computer screens, I have to say that AF Screen Clean is one of the best products that I have come across on the market today, its amazing. We all know that when you use your computer or laptop continuously, visable marks quickly start appearing, and they can often become really annoying. I have tried a few products over the years, and this is my favourite, as it dont leave any drip marks from the wipe and my laptop can be used straight away, no need for drying time.
This product itself is a liquid which you need to squirt onto your monitor, and then wipe away. This itself is very cheap in my opinion, often less than £5. However, you can also purchase wipe that are designed to be used with this product, but they can be quick expensive, especially when you tend to use the Screen Clean a lot, so it money is tight, I would definitely recommend the use of this product, but in conjuction with some sort of roll, like kitchen or toliet roll for example. It is effortless, so easy to use, which is certainly an advantge.
Like I said previously, I has tried a lot of similar products, yet the AF Screen Clean definitely comes out on top as being my favourite, and I would recommend to all that are looking for this sort of item for there computer cleaning needs. One other point I should make, is that not only can you use it on computer screens, but I sometimes use on my TV, but seen as it isnt designed for that, I wouldnt recommend it for that use, it may work for me, but not for you. Thanks for reading.
Apart from giving them a quick once over every few weeks with the soft Hoover attachment, I really don't keep my computer screens as clean as I perhaps should. Although my desktop PC isn't too bad in terms of dust and grime, my laptop often gets dirty due to the sheer amount of fingermarks / bodily fluids (only joking) on the display. My usual solution is to use Windolene wipes - but these frequently have too much liquid on them which can be damaging to the computer itself. The second problem with Windolene is the fact that with a non-glass (i.e laptop) screen, you'll still see faint smears when it dries and therefore more rubbing is required.
A solution to the problem presented itself to me when I noticed a product called AF Screen Clene Spray in a clearance sale at my local computer supplies shop. The spray was on offer for only £1.50, although the regular retail price is £5.10.

Arriving in a blue and silver 250ml can with a spray top, the product is easy to apply (I spray directly onto the screen), and a couple of pumps is usually enough. It's primarily designed to be used with glass screens, but I often use it on the plastic types with good results. When I bought the spray it came free with some soft lint-free wipes - although I am aware that from many retailers these don't come with the purchase. What I can say is that the results are far better when the wipes are used, as they don't seem to attract as much static as kitchen roll or a standard yellow duster. In general, the spray cuts through greasy marks very quickly and with little effort. You'll not notice too much of an aroma when using the product - except for a mild chemically smell which isn't unpleasant.

Overall, I have been very impressed with AF's Screen Clene spray in the short time that i've used it - smears are removed with hardly any effort, and it's easy to control the amount of the product that you want to apply. If you ever see a can for less than £2 I would recommend giving it a go - the full Amazon price of over £5 however is perhaps too much for a product of this nature.
We use computers at work, like a lot of places, and the screens seem to get constantly filthy as we show prospective clients some items. As it can be difficult to find a product to use on a screen without running the risk of damaging it I asked my boss if we could order some supplies and this was something that he then found in one of the back offices and offered up for usage.
This is a product that is specifically designed for use when cleaning computer or laptop screens and is designed to let you clean your screen whilst not running the risk of any damage occurring. As computer screens can be quite important it is definitely an idea to spend a few pounds on a good product!
This product is very simple to use, as there is a pump action dispenser on the top, I just give it a few presses, wipe the mist across the screen and then use a clean dry J cloth to remove any excess dirt or spray. When we ordered a replacement bottle of this recently it did come with some special cloths but no-one has actually worried about using these yet just because the J cloths we have been using work well enough anyway.
This works well, it is simple to use, there are no streaks across the screen after use and it certainly does remove the fingerprints that are often found all over our screens at work. This takes just a few seconds to use and the cloths we use soak up the moisture quickly as well as removing any dirt or grease.
We have taken to using this once or twice a day when we are cleaning some other items at work and it does help to keep everything looking and feeling a lot smarter. It is more pleasant for prospective clients too as they do not have to touch something that is dirty when using the screens to point things out to us.
I believe that we last purchased this just a couple of weeks ago for under £3 from Euroffice but then we were ordering a stack of supplies really so we didn't have to pay for delivery charges or anything like that.
If you are looking for a product, particularly for your office, that makes it easy to keep your screens looking clean and pristine then why not consider this one? We have been very pleased with the quality and a little goes a long way with this meaning that for just a few pounds we have been able to get a few months worth of usage out of this.
==AF Screen Clene Spray==
I forgot I had this product which is near the end of the can now but I had no trouble in getting the last few dregs out to use it. I purchased it a good while back now and considering how dirty my screen gets I am surprised I hadn't used it all up and remembered to buy myself some more.
The can of the spray set me back only a few pound and I ordered it online with a ton of other computer cleaning related things (which are also still in my bottom draw and my screen still filthy!) the RRP of the product is £5.99p but I don't think I paid this for it and I would say it is well worth shopping round to get the best deal.
The idea of this product is that it is a safe way to be able to clean your computer screen without using chemicals that you are not sure if they are suitable to use. The bottle has a pump action nozzle which lets out a good amount of the cleaner is a fine mist type way. This is easy to wipe away with the specially designed tissue type cloths by AF which came with my purchase.
There is a slightly chemical type smell when this product is used but it is not really that strong and is something you get used to after using it a short while. The product is easy to clean from the computer screen and I must say that it leaves the screen as clean as clean can be and I was really impressed. It not only removed all the dirt and grime that gets imbedded on to it but also gave the screen a wonderful streak free and dust free finish that I have never been able to get other than when using this product.
I can't say that it had long lasting properties because it really didn't and this is something that really needs to be used every day to keep the screen clear and dirt free. It was able to keep this up for a while and regularly did it and it was surprising how much dirt I could clean off the screen even with only a few days passing. I have now just finished the remained of the bottle and I will be sure to put this on my shopping list to get again.
The design of the product is good as the spray allows for just the right amount of cleaner to be released with just two pumps. The cloths I got free made sure that the dirt and any fibres were cleaned off the screen to leave a wonderful finish that I can't complain about at all. The bottle did last a good while as it has got to be well over a year ago that I bought this bottle and I think I will definitely be buying another.
Overall I can't give this simple yet effective item anything less than top marks of 5 out of 5 stars and a very high recommendation.
I do hope that this has been of some help/interest to you.
Many thanks for taking the time to read.
I have used numerous screen cleaners in different forms, wipes and various types of sprays. I find that the sprays work well, though generally the wipes are easier to use as they are simply in a pack and you don't require your own cloth and can simply throw them away after use. You may wonder why I gave this 'Screen Clene' from AF a try and it was simply because I found it in a pound store in the town centre. The spray canister claims that the solution is an anti-static cleaner for anti-glare filters, monitors and glass surfaces. I have only used this spray on my laptop screen, but I would use specially formulated sprays for cleaning windows. The non-smearing spray is OEM approved, pardon my ignorance but I don't have a clue what this means!
The AF spray comes in a silver and blue canister with a blue cap. It is simple to use and dries very quickly after giving it a wipe with a clean cloth. I use kitchen towel to ensure a clean cloth and throw it away after use. Due to its anti-smear properties it leaves a clean finish with no marks.
The canister has 250ml of solution in it, so it will last quite a while if used for just cleaning your monitor or laptop screen. Being able to use it on a lot of different surfaces means it can be used for multiple things. I find that the advantage of a pray over wipes is that the spray will last a lot longer than wipes. Sometimes you can leave wipes open and they dry out after a period of time, and they aren't as easy to store in my opinion.
If you can pick up the AF 'Screen Clene' for £1 then I would definately recommend it, anything under about £3 would be a good buy. Also, you could use the spray to clean lenses on things like overhead projectors, and even the glass on an office photocopier.
AF Screen-Clene is a grat product to assist in cleaning TFT and Glass monitors.
I swear by this product to keep my PC monitor and TV squeaky clean, easily removing any signs of finger prints and smears. I use it mostly on the Laptop as the screen is always getting covered with finger prints when opening and closing the lid.
It can be a little costly when you need to keep on purchasing 'special wipes', though in all honesty, I have found kitchen roll to be just as effective. I squirt the monitor in each corner and once in the middle, use one piece of kitchen roll to buff this into the monitor and then another piece to easily polish out the smears. It's easy to use and no effort is required.
I have also tried Tesco's own products but didn't find the results to be as good, so it really depends on how fussy you are.
For something like a TV, you're likely to get away with Tesco's own due to sitting away from the TV, for laptops and monitors I would recommend this product though as you're up close and don't want to be seeing finger marks!
Its seems like a small problem - who thinks about which product to buy to clean their monitor screen with? Not something to loose sleep over right? How can something so small mean so much? Well it can!!
You will be surprised when you run your finger over your monitor screen and see how much dust and greasy fingerprints you have on there.
I have used MANY different wipes in the office. My company purchases many different brands and styles of cleaning materials for monitor screens; from wet wipes to anti static wipes, to sprays to dusters.
Id noticed we had some packets of AF Screen-Clene lying around. So I thought id give them a try. They come in packs of 16 in multiples of 2. You have to tear the packet to access the wet wipe. The smell is appealing like a lemon fresh washing up liquid. They are moist to the touch, and not dripping wet. If you squeeze the wet wipe you will see a few drips of liquid.
The way you clean is
(1) unfold the wet wipe
(2) clean your monitor in lines across your monitor screen
(3) as you are cleaning the towel would have evaporated most of the liquid
(4) as the town starts to become dry, wipe off any liquid which in on your screen
Your screen should now be squeaky clean!!!!
You will be surprised at how much dirt you will see on the wet wipe once you have finished.
At the office I have noticed that these can also be purchased in a tub. This consists of a roll of wet wipe and you pull out how much you require and tear. These are much more better in expenses as the individual packets.
I would recommend the packets for traveling such as for laptop use.
These wipes do exactly what they are supposed to!
