Thanks to some well timed bidding on eBay I had come into ownership of a 15" LCD computer monitor. Unfortunately I do not own a computer, instead only owning a lowly HP laptop. I tend to photoshop (try to at least!) my digital images and this was becoming a bit of a pain on my small laptop display. Now if only I could use my snazzy new monitor with my laptop... Enter the Belkin PC Monitor Cable. After flicking through DooYoo I found some good 5-Star reviews for this product, a trip to Amazon and one DooYoo voucher later I was in possession of a 2m VGA cable. Total cost was £5.30 including £2.00 delivery, not bad considering similar cables from imitation brands are available in PC World and Currys for double that price. Any price savvy consumer who has bought computer peripherals will be aware of Belkin, they seem to have a foot in every door in the computer industry. They make audio cables, xbox accessories right up to monitor cables, usually up to OEM standards and typically at a fraction of the cost. This monitor cable is no exception and comes out of the box ready to go in sturdy white rubber. It's hard to describe objectively but the cable feels well insulated and the connectors feel sturdy and weighty in your palm. There doesn't seem to be much penny pinching done here and they feel as good or better than the HP or Sony equivalent. Each connector comes with the usual thumb screws for security, my laptop lacks a connection for these but thankfully my monitor does. They are of the same high quality and allow very little play at the socket. My laptop lacking these connections actually works out as it allows me to connect and disconnect very quickly from the screen, and it also prevents me from forgetting it's attached and pulling the display off the desk when moving my laptop! A problem with cheaper analogue cables is patchy signal transmission, I'm no visiophile (visual audiophile?) but I can't see any deterioration in the display quality over my laptop screen. Maybe it would show up for HD films or such but seeing as I watch those on my TV via a HDMI cable it's of little consequence even if it did occur. For editing photos and running slide shows it works just fine so I guess it ticks all my boxes. As I said earlier, anyone who has bought after market computer parts will know Belkin and with good reason. Their parts and cables are of consistently high quality and low price, and nothing is new here. If you need a 2m VGA cable then you've come to the right place, hop on to Amazon and get one now. Five stars.
The Belkin Pc Monitor Cable was my cable of choice when my previous cable failed to do its job effectively. In laymen terms, my old one broke and I quickly needed a replacement. I have to point out that I didnt intentionly go out and buy this product specifically, it was on the rack and I bought it, but now I am glad that I do. I knew as soon as I started using it that I had found a brand that makes exception products. I mainly use it to transfer data between my laptop and computer, and I have to say that compared with the previous one I used which I bought from Tesco, again just off the rack, the transfer speed was much quicker, often reduced by half. Connecting the cable up to the PC screen was easy, as the cable has the exact connections on both ends of the cable. Another great advantage is the overall length of the cable, just shy of 2metres, which is quite a distance for a cable. I bought this product from the local Currys store in town and paid £15 for it, however I know for a fact that they sell for less on the internet, something I wish I had know before, but still I still consider that price a bargain. Due to buying this product, I know have a brand of computer accessories that I can rely on, as now I have bought numerous products with the Belkin brand, o if that isnt a testiment tothis PC cable then I dont know what more I can say. A definite recommendation for all potential consumers, how this cable helps you as much as it has helped me. Thanks for reading.
For whatever reason, my monitor cable on my desktop computer at home started to play up. The colours appeared to be washed out and there was a bit of a strange flicker going on across the screen. At first I wasn't sure whether it was the monitor, the cable or the video card, but after borrowing a monitor cable from a friend to try out, I managed to quickly confirm that the monitor cable was indeed at fault. The problem then was that the cable was totally sealed, and hence, any attempted diagnosis or repair was going to be pretty much impossible. Quickly looking on Amazon, I found the 3m version of this Belkin cable for just over £7 delivered, which arrived very quickly. 3m might seem excessive when most people opt for a 1.8m cable. But in my experience I've always found the 1.8m to be just a little too short if I wanted to put the monitor on say one end of the desk and the PC unit underneath on the other side. So a 3m cable would give me plenty of flexibility and length to do what I wanted, and any spare could be wrapped up and tucked behind the desk. For those interested, you'll find that these cables will come in various lengths from 1.8m right up to 15m. Another thing worth considering is that the brand name of Belkin also drew me towards this cable. Belkin make many different computer cables and bits and pieces, and through the years I have used many of their products with various computers. In each case, although sometimes slightly more expensive than their competitors, the quality of their products that you get in return for the cost is excellent - durable, well made and look good. In the case of this cable, the cable itself feels quite thick and is well sheathed and protected. The protective shields over the back of the plugs are also securely in place around the plug and the cable, and it seems that no degree of flexing of the joint in this area is going to expose the inner cables in any way. So in true Belkin tradition, this cable has been well made. The cable I have is a 15 pin male VGA plug to 15 pin male VGA plug cable, which you use to connect your computer monitor to your PC unit. You can normally recognise this type of cable because they will have 3 rows of 5 connectors in each plug. The plug bits on either end look like the bottom bit of a cut off triangle with 2 sloping sides, and these plug in to the corresponding sockets on your monitor and your PC unit. For added security of fixture, you also have 2 screw in bits on either side of each plug. These have a knurled section on the back of each screw which will then allow you to screw them down into the corresponding fixed nuts by the sockets, ensuring that the plug is then securely held in position once fitted. When I first connected it up between my computer and my monitor, I was quite surprised at how vivid and the bright the colours suddenly became on my monitor screen. My old cable must have been gradually deteriorating over time, and I hadn't really noticed it until it finally became really bad. But this new Belkin cable gave my monitor a new lease of life, making everything colourful and bright - so much so that I had to turn down some of the settings on my monitor's display, and now nearly a year later, the display still seems very vivid and bright thanks to this new cable. In summary, although this is pretty much a fit and forget type cable, the quality of it did make quite a noticeable difference to my monitor's display. In true Belkin fashion, the cable is well made and durable, and if Belkin's trusted reliability is anything to go by, I don't expect that I will need to buy another monitor cable for many years to come. So an easy 5 star recommendation. Review also on Ciao under Randal1.
This is one very basic product but it serves a very useful purpose in my house. As I have a TV/Monitor rolled into one (see a previous review) I connect my Home PC Tower to my screen using a product that does exactly as this does, though it is a different brand. I use the Belkin PC Monitor Cable for when I wish to stream live video to my large widescreen TV in the living room. The cable is designed to connect a laptop or Home PC to a monitor, though my TV also has the capability to connect via this cable also. The Belkin PC Monitor Cable has a 1.8m cable, so it isn't ideally designed for my use, buy it does a reasonable job. I could do with a longer length of cable in all fairness. Priced at £10 when I bought it from a local computer shop it can be purchased online for cheaper, so overall it is terrific value for money. At both ends of the cable are 'male' connectors, which are designed to fit onto the slots available on the suitable devices. Each connector has 15 pins which meet with the 'female' connector on the device. I find the connectors on the Belkin cable to be very robust and a lot more durable than unbranded ones I have used and discarded in the past. The process is simple and the connection can be strengthened by attaching the screws on the cable to the device it is attached to. This allows you to have a more semi-permenant connection and improves reliability by eliminating the chance it has to fall out. The cable itself is thick and very robust. It is finished in a flexible white plastic and hasn't suffered any damage since purchase. I am happy to say this one is built to last, and it has withstood a good amount of use as i am regularly attaching/detaching it from my devices. Often these cables are attached to a Home PC and monitor and simply left in place for many years, I am always moving mine about, so it is good to know it is durable. Once the cable is attached to the laptop and TV it is very much a case of 'away you go'. The simple plug and play nature of the cable allows you to easily operate with it with no fuss at all. The high standard of construction is also a plus-point, though personally I find the cable a little too short for my purposes.Belkin products continue to live up to their high standard reputation and I will keep buying Belkin products in future.
I invested in this cable about a couple of months ago as the pins had gone in the previous unbranded cable I had and the display on my monitor was a little lack lustre. I spend most of my time on my laptop so I only decided to connect this cable recently as I am pursuing my interest in digital art and my laptop was impeding my creative flair. The product This cable has the same connection on both ends and is a male to male cable and has 15 pins in each side. It has gold plated connectors that aid the transfer of data and I experienced no problems or glitches when working on programmes, playing online games and watching television programmes. It has moulded thumbs screws which are excellent for connecting the computer base unit to the monitor. This feature made the connection process quick and easy and my computer was up and running in less than 10 minutes. This product has a generous 1.8m cable and I found it easy to connect my base unit to my computer screen. Price I bought my product for £11.00 from a high street store and the cable came in black. However, this product can be found cheaper online. Quality For the reasons outlined above, I found the product to be good quality and live up to the high standard I have found amongst most Belkin products. My opinion I liked the user friendly hand moulded screw feature and it made the connection process easy. I found this product a bit pricey on the high street, but after buying a unbranded product, whose pins broke relatively easily, I wanted to buy a brand I trusted. The online prices for this product are very reasonable if you don't need the product immediately. I experienced no problems with data transfer via this product and I was able to use photoshop with no problems and able to watch television online and play online games with no glitches. Thanks for reading my review.
