Last month the cable that was provided with my desktop broke, so I urgently needed a new one so that I could connect my hard drive tower to my monitor, and the way I have my desk set out, I needed one that was quite long in length. The standard cables are only a couple of metres, so after extensive shopping online, I was pleased I found he Startech cable. The length was the main reason why I purchased it, even though I wasnt planning on paying for than £10, I ended up purchasing this product for £15 on Amazon. There was two different types of this cable, both the same, with different lengths, so even if you dont have the requirements that I did, then this model could be for you.
I trust this cable, and am confident that it will last a long time, as the outer cabling is so thick, therefore providing the the wires on the inside, a great advantage in my opinion. Quality is perfect with this cable, both in terms on connection and video, something I thought was greatly important. You can use this cable with most models of computer models, but I would double check before making the purchase, you never know. Even though the cable was so thick, I was easily able to pin it away for safety, I didnt want a 15 metre cable hanging everywhere. All in all, this is a great product, I recommend it as a brilliant purchase. Thanks for reading.
I bought this cable around a year ago so I could connect my Computer Tower to my monitor. The Startech cable is 20 feet in length which is the main reason that I purchased this particular cable as I needed the added length as my Pc monitor is situated on my wall so standards cables wouldn't reach. I paid £19.99 for this cable from an online store which I thought was very reasonable for this length of cable. The same store also had the 10ft cable for 13.99 if you don't need it to be quite as long.
I have bought a lot of VGA cables for various monitors over the last through years and must say that this is by far the best one I have ever bought. The picture quality of the Startech DVI on my monitor is fantastic and is much improved from the usual standard cheap and nasty cables that I sometimes use. The VGA cable is a little thicker from the average but this adds to the durability and quality of the cable. The connections are very high quality and robust, they use standard screw fittings and fit easily into most monitors / projectors.
The data transmission is also excellent at around 4.2gb per second; The main thing with this cable for me is the excellent picture quality and this Is why I would highly recommend it.
Most people who buy this cable will probably be doing so to connect their PC tower to their PC monitor. The 20metre cable is a major selling point and Startech don't charge a complete fortune for the pleasure. At around the £25 mark for the 20ft cable it is well priced - the 10ft version is around £14. Often when buying a new monitor you will find the standard VGA monitor cables are of poor quality and therefore give a poor signal. I opted for the 20ft StarTech DVI cable and am impressed with the picture quality and the extra length is much needed.
The reason I need the extra length is that I didn't buy this for use with my PC monitor. I bought it because one of my old laptops doesn't have a working backlight on the screen and therefore I need a seperate monitor to see the visuals although the laptop itself works. The DVI single-link cables ensure you have high quality digital image on your screen and they have lasted well considering they are forever been connected and disconnected to/from my laptop.
The cable itself is very durable and thick enough to reassure you of its high quality. The fixings at either end of the cable are also very robust and I have had no problems with the screw fixing system that these kind of cables use. The StarTech DVI cable will work with almost any digital display, projectors and CRT monitors and anthough I know they allow data transmission of upto 4.5 gigabits/second, I am unsure if this is good or not. What I do know, however, is that the picture quality is extremely favourable compared to the standard issue cables that come with new monitors.
