An Aga does cost a lot of money... 5-7 thousand pounds. Having said this these last for a lifetime. The way it works is that natural gas/propane heats up large cylinders on the top and ovens in the bottom. These are at different temperatures for your different cooking needs. In this range of AGA there are two ovens, a roasting and a baking oven. On the top part of the aga there are two plates; simmering and warming. Once you have bought it there is hardly any need for constant care, it never switches off and it never costs you. Lucky old me has moved house & inherited a beautiful bright red AGA. It stands majestically in the corner of the kitchen and the colour alone warms the cockles of your heart not to mention the actual warmth radiating everywhere. I have to own up to always wanting one but the price is horrendous and only worthwhile if you intend to stay in your house for a very, very long time. A 2 oven AGA is over £5000.00 new; apparently ours is worth over £2000!! Having said that they do last forever.
