Having looked at every gas cooker for sale in Scotland (and you think I'm joking!) I finally chose one out of a brochure. After a week of eager anticipation and fish suppers, we became the proud owners of a Leisure Ports of Call by Jeff Banks gas cooker. Okay so the immediate downside is, it's yet another thing that Jeff Banks has put his name to but so far it's the only one! This range comes in three colours, a lovely blue, terracotta and my choice - Verdigris, which is a really nice sort of jade green. The finish is a matt speckled effect on top of black with brass ends to the rails and controls. It is a really unusual and effective finish which was one of my main reasons for choosing this model. ( it did mean completely changing my original choice of worktops, door handles etc.. but I'm sure it will be worth it.) The cooker itself is a 55cm wide slot in with lid. It has the Leisure trademark built in roasting rack which opens with the door and also includes two baking trays. It also has a separate grill, meaning you can use the oven at the same time as grilling. Best of all in my opinion is the fact that one of the burners is especially geared to wok use - the basis for the majority of my cooking! This really is a very nice cooker and has already proved easy to clean. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for something a little bit different. Price wise it was on par with most other gas cookers at £600.
