Good oven with some annoyances (Miele H 4431 BP KAT)

Advantages: Heats up very quickly, easy to clean

This is overall a very good oven. It is extremely fast to heat up, around 5 minutes to reach 180˚C so there's no need to wait before putting food into it (except for baking as the manual explains). The racks and slides are well made and there is a range of accessories that can be bought such as a telescopic rack. I have used the telescopic rack in another model, and I must say that I couldn't get on with it as it was more of a hindrance. It also has to be removed during a pyrolytic clean.
Speaking of which, this is excellent. The doors lock and the oven heats up to around 500˚C burning off the grease and grime. It's then just a case of wiping it out with a damp cloth. Try to clean the glass door before hand or it can stain during the process.
There are plenty of programmes to choose from, but let's face it, most of us use the 180˚C or 190˚C fan setting most of the time.
On the down side, I have had Miele ovens before, and the first thing that struck me about it is the plasticy feel to the controls. They also feel a bit light. The control buttons can be pushed in, and with another push come out enabling them to be turned. As well as feeling plasticy, it's a bit hit and miss trying to select the programmes for the timer and clock setting. A slight press is needed on the control (which feels very loose) followed by a turn of the control until the required setting is displayed (such as timer). A further press is needed and the slightest turn will cause the next setting to be selected.
Overall, a good product - but for the price I would have expected the controls to have been better made. See it in real life before deciding.
