Advantages: cheap price
Disadvantages: glass in door
We brought this cooker from argos over 12 months ago now, at the time it was retailing at £159.99 and was available in a choice of white or silver, i chose the white as all my other apliances were white and i wanted it to match them.
It is an electric cooker so instalation was very easy, just unscrew the wires to the old one and attach the new ones, job done and ready to go. It has a very long piece of wire on the back which is great for being able to pull the cooker out and clean behind it.
The cooker it self is quite a small cooker not very wide and the same height as a standard work surface would be, having said this though the oven space is quite big, over 40 litres, i can fit a decent sized roasting dish in the oven with no problems at all, the shelf in the oven has two settings so can be adjusted easily by just sliding it out of one grip in the metal and into the other, it is a tight fit which is a good thing as you can pull it part way out to get your food out without the risk of it slipping out.
The oven and grill are combined, the grill is situated in the top of the oven and when switched on looks like a rather big kettle element all glowing red, this to start with was fine but because the element is encased behind metal plates with holes in them you cant get to them to clean them and after cooking a meat like lamb that spits a lot you do have to allow the fat to burn off the elements otherwise after a while it will start to build up and smoke when you use the grill. Also after using the grill with the door open the knobs on the cooker do get quite hot so be careful if using the grill for more than 15 minutes at a time.
In a previous review of this cooker it is stated that the bottom section of the cooker is to store pans in, i dont know if there were two different types of model of this cooker made but on mine there is no storage in the bottom just a detachable plate that has some wires under neith and the floor.
The hobs on the top work very well and heat up quite quickly, the paint around mine has lasted very well with no peeling from the heat like i have experienced with other cookers and it cleans up nicely, there are two clips on the back to allow you to attach a lid if you wanted one to cover the cooker when not in use but we dont have one of these.
My main gripe with this cooker is the glass in the door, it is in two pieces, one on the out side and one on the inside like a double glazed unit, mine has become dirty inside from the food cooked inside the oven but it isnt possible to take them out to clan inside it so looks a bit unsightly now it has a brown tinge to it.
Over all it is a decent cooker for the bottom of the range price it falls into.
Summary: a good bottom of the range cooker but nothing special

- 14/06/09 Sounds like a good model to consider if you have limited space in your kitchen or if you have a microwave already that has a grill. Well covered review, so well done!
