Advantages: Esay clean, Good safety measures

Disadvantages: grill handle always being lost.

When I moved house I was not at all surprised to discover that we could not use the cooker which was left behind - If you had seen the state of the house in general you would understand.

Biting the bullet we rushed out ( as it was only two weeks until Christmas last year) and purchased the best cooker we could. As the house was fitting for gas central heating we went for a gas cooker. My wife - who is a cook - says that gas has better control. The one we choose was the Parkinson Cowan Renown Deluxe.

I have to say that we have been very pleased with the cooker. They have combines safety with a sleek design. They have also considered easy maintenance and care.

The safety feature I like best is the fact that you cannot put down the cooker lid while the burners are on. If you do they immediately go out. I did this having taken the pots away. I do not see the blue flames easily and thought they were out. They were by the time I had put the lid down. No cooking lids and burning hands when you next come back.

The one annoying feature I do have to highlight is the removable grill handle. I constantly lose it and end up with a cloth to pull the grill out. I know - put it where it is always at hand, but you know what happens, somebody always moves it.

What I have been very impressed with is the easy clean surfaces. The oven is coated in a special material which helps keep it clean. I do not use any special potions. Hot water and a clean cloth. They suggest that washing liquid is sufficient and i have found this to be the case.

There are three burner sizes - small for simmering (soups and stews), 2 medium for everyday cooking and 1 large rapid burner(for cooking chips - suggested in the handbook). We mainly use the simmer and medium burners as we have a deep fryer.

The igniter is operated by a battery which should have a good shelf life. However, should you need to remove and change it then this is not a big job. <

Parkinson Cowan have done a good job to make the job of the householder easier. I have been pleased overall with this cooker and would recommend it being considered by others.
