      Very effective!

I love these ibuprofen and codeine tablets, because they are cheap and easily available at any drugstore, and I find that they provide a much faster sense of relief than paracetamol, or ibuprofen on its own. The codeine in the tablets creates a much faster pain relief sensation (about 20 minutes usually), which is brilliant, and faster than most other pain relief tablets I have tried.

However, the codeine does have side effects; not serious ones though. I often feel very drowsy after taking these tablets, but it doesn't tend to bother me that much. But an advantage of this is that it tells you all about what the codeine does on the box, and gives you a warning about codeine addiction, advising you on the specifics on when to take (or not to take) it.

The tablets are relatively easy to swallow, but for people who really have trouble swallowing tablets like I sometimes do, I'd go for something else- you can get some that are really small and smooth textured, similar to Smarties. I would recommend these to people who have difficulty swallowing larger tablets.

These are the kind of tablets that will start to dissolve on your tongue if you take too long over swallowing it, and it tastes pretty disgusting if you let it do this. (Another reason why these maybe aren't the best things for you if you aren't that good at taking tablets.)

But overall, these tablets works wonders on really bad headaches, and I always make sure I have some ready in my medicine cupboard!

About time a cheaper alternative to nurofen plus was on the market

This is a fairly recent product produced by boots and I think it was a great ideal, the branded equivalent nurofen plus is stupidly expensive. Boots offers exactly the same tablets but in different, and arguably more attractive packaging. Not many people seem to realise the medication is exactly the same, the public's loyalty to brands of medicines constantly fascinates me. Codeine is a fantastic product to be available over-the-counter in the UK, and for me personally provides huge amount of relief when suffering from mucular pains. Personally I find these tablets have a adequately quick onset of action, about 20 minutes, ideal for any circumstances where these tablets would be taken in the first place. Another major possitive of this product is the extensive warnings in the product leaflet about the damages of codeine addiction and advise about avoiding consumption of more then 3 continous days. Codeine does make me feel very sleepy and slightly sickie, however it would be wrong of me for to critic the product in question over this. The nausea and tiredness is my personal side-effect to the codeine and is not at all related to the product. Although the outter packaging of the tablets is very professional and informative, the inner packaging is lacking. I find the actual blister packs can be very stiff and tablets can be difficult to pop out. Then even when you can eventual pop the tablets out they are often damaged- chipped or crushed. This damage to the tablets protective seal means that when you are taking the tablet the potent vile taste of the drug can actually be tasted in the mouth, something the protective seal was actively engaged in stopping. Overall I think this a great product and should be an essential in any family first aid kit.
