Tesco Ibuprofen Tablets
Advantages: They work and are cheap to buy!
I always have a cupboard stocked with basic medication such as plaster, antiseptic cream and pain relief medication. I find that for minor injuries and fever Ibuprofen works well, especially if taken with paracetamol. There are numerous brands of Ibuprofen on the market with branded ones costing around £3 for a pack whilst Tesco own brand costs just 33p for a pack of 16 caplets. The tablets are exactly the same and therefore I am happy to pay the lower price!
Ibuprofen is recommended for any condition that causes inflammation such as muscular pain, headache, period pain, dental pain ,migraine and back ache. It is also excellent at reducing fever when taken with paracetamol. It is suitable for both adults and children;although there are liquid options for children. Ibuprofen works by blocking the hormone our body makes in response to pain. The hormone is responsible for swelling and fever so it makes sense to block it. Ibuprofen is fast acting although it is not long lasting and you will probably need to repeat the dose to ensure effective pain relief. It is not advised that you take Ibuprofen on a long term basis as it can cause heart attacks and strokes. It can also lead to bleeding in the stomach and intestines over time. The recommended dose is 2 200 mg tablets every 4- 6 hours with a maximum of 6 tablets in any 24 hours. Overdosing on Ibuprofen can be very serious.
The Tesco version of Ibuprofen comes in a small silver pack and contains 16 caplets. The caplets are easy to swallow and I find I can even manage to swallow them without water if I am out and need pain relief. I have been buying these caplets for several years now and find them really effective in treating all manor of ailments and minor injuries. I suffer with a headaches and find taking Ibuprofen helps to manage the pain. However they are not so helpful in treating migraines! I used the caplets when I managed to trip over a paving slab recently badly bruising my knee. I found they worked quickly and really did ease the pain.
Overall I can highly recommend Tesco own brand Ibuprofen!
