The weaning advice at the moment is 6 months, however I started weaning my son at 4 1/2 months. I was just so tired, he went from sleeping around a 6 hour stretch to waking for a feed 2-3 hourly. I had endured all the so called 'growth spurts' I could take, he needed something else. We started him off on baby rice mixed with formula. He had a couple of mouthfuls which he spat straight back out whilst pulling faces, we tried again the next day and the same happened again. On the third day we tried a small amount of pureéd carrot, which he ate fine. He was obviously ready for weaning as he kept trying to grab the spoon and was eating the whole lot from the 5th day. I like making my own food for him to ensure I know what ingredients he is eating. Using a hand blender and the Annabel Karmel's 'new complete baby and toddler meal planner'. I have made lots of nutritious meals which my son loves, I batch cook once or twice a week and it keeps us going for a while. Summary: ... |
