Baby Food Hints/Tips
Advantages: Getting a better diet
Disadvantages: Can be hard to get them to eat anything
When it comes to introducing your baby to food for the first time, it can be a daunting experience. I tried to feed my baby boy at the age of 4 months old for the first time. I read all the books and it seemed that this was the best time to introduce food. I was also hoping for a miracle cure for sleepless nights, and I thought that by having a fuller belly, he may well sleep better. Sadly though this was not the case. I started out by pureeing alot of different vegetables, but not mixing them together, just keeping individual flavours. It is easier to tell which flavours they do and do not like that way. Carrot was a favourite, but he would not eat alot else other than that, and in the end he wouldn't even eat that. I gave up, as he was happier on just milk, and eventually his sleeping improved anyway. When he got to 6 months old I tried again with the food, and he took straight to it. I think he just needed more time to be ready for the textures. I gradually mixed foods together, and then introduced meats and dairy, but pureed them down first. Now he is 14 months old and will eat anything I put in front of him. I think they just have to be ready to try new stuff in their own time, its no good forcing it on them, just try to be relaxed about it.
