I have a 2 and half year old child. As a baby he loved eating but now he's too busy playing and gets distracted from eating! I breastfed him until he was one year old but started his solids at four months. As all new mums i was paranoid of how he would react to diffrent types of food or if he would be allergic to any. So initially i ... Read the complete review

Weaning can be one of them things which is either very easy or very difficult. Of course like us babies enjoy different tastes and smells, so getting them to try solid food is difficult enough but you have to try and give them things they enjoy and recognise the signs when they don't enjoy something. I was told not to start weaning ... Read the complete review

Weaning my son on to solid food was an experience I found enjoyable, terrifying, frustrating and very funny all at once. There's nothing quite like seeing your little baby laughing away as he covers himself in carrot puree, or the panic as he chokes on a lump which the blender hasn't quite managed to eliminate, the frustration as he refuses to ... I have three children aged 4.5, 2.5 and 1 and the advice for weaning changed with each of them. The current recommendation is to wait until your baby is 6mths old but it really is something that you need to decide yourself with advice from your health visitor. My first son was 4.5mths when we began weaning him, my daughter 5.5 mths and ... Read the complete review

I am the proud parent to 2 children, however they are both very different and their eating habits are very unique. Child 1 was born at 36 weeks and was bottlefed (not through choice), he ate bought baby food and was very difficult to wean. He really only enjoyed bland food and yoghurt, he also did not like textured food or finger food, we had ... Read the complete review

Over the last 5 years of being a parent the advice I have been given from various sources has changed dramatically, and in general the advice on what you should/shouldn't be doing is confusing and daunting. I hope that I can write something that can help; I must have done something right as I have two fantastic eaters (touch wood), and ... Read the complete review

When it comes to introducing your baby to food for the first time, it can be a daunting experience. I tried to feed my baby boy at the age of 4 months old for the first time. I read all the books and it seemed that this was the best time to introduce food. I was also hoping for a miracle cure for sleepless nights, and I thought that by having a ... In the first six months of a babies life they only need their formula milk. When six months has arrived babies are usually ready to start solid food. This is when i started introducing food to my baby and the timing was perfect. The baby will still need the formula milk to get all the key nutrients which they need. It is best ... I enjoyed weaning my daughter and she enjoyed it too , here are my hints and tips and i hope people find them useful.1.I would always recommend you buying you baby a really good highchair because weaning can take some time.2.I would recommend using the plactic or rubber bibs because it can get very messey and if your out and about the disposable ... Weaning is a very exciting milestone for parents and babies, but some parents find this time to be a little daunting too. Weaning is a gradual process that requires time and patience. The weaning experience is different with every child. It is always a good time to start when you and your baby are in good health, and are feeling ... Read the complete review

I am extremely lucky and have had two easy weaning processes and I also enjoyed it immensely. My son I weaned at 5 months and my daughter was 7 1/2 months, I think as a mummy you know when your baby is ready or not. I am very paranoid about doing everything I can possibly do in order to try and help my children not get ... Read the complete review

Babies get most of their nutrition from milk until they are 1, so the food that you give them before then is about them learning to eat. Exploring new tastes and textures. Learning to put it in their mouths, learning to bite off the right amount, chew it, move it around inside theirs mouths, swallow it. Learning how different things feel in their ... Being a first time mum I wanted to do everything right for my son , the health visitor said not to wean until he was 6 months old but at 4 months he was starving . So I decided to start giving him some baby rice , just a couple of spoonfuls , my son loved his rice and each day he would want more and more. From there we tried banana delight which ... Being a parent isn't always as easy as it looks. There are many milestones in the first six months or so of a baby's life and weaning is one of them. When do you start? What do you give them? How much do you give them? The questions can go on and on, and if you have no support this can be a daunting time. Legislation is always ... Read the complete review

As a chef I was really looking forward to weaning our baby, I imagined lots of wonderful dishes I could cook up for you son however it did not turn out quite as I expected. The health visitor told us that the baby needed to be weaned at 6 months which shocked me because my mother told me it was 3 or 4 months and I had been devising lots of ... Read the complete review

The weaning advice at the moment is 6 months, however I started weaning my son at 4 1/2 months. I was just so tired, he went from sleeping around a 6 hour stretch to waking for a feed 2-3 hourly. I had endured all the so called 'growth spurts' I could take, he needed something else. We started him off on baby rice mixed with formula. He had a ... Read the complete review

I think most health visitors now tell new mums not to start weaning their babies until they are 5 months old, well that went right out of the window with both my 2 and I started weaning both from about 10 weeks as they were always starving! When I started to wean my daughter at around six months old, I was very keen to make as much homemade foods as possible, and only to use jars of ready made baby food occasionally, when we were out and about. I had been given a couple of Annabel Karmel books as presents - the First Year Planner and Top 100 Baby Purees - and found them to be really ... Read the complete review

Mashing up food for small babies can be messy and time consuming but if you live within 12 miles of Plymouth I've found a company called ok foods that prepare organic baby food and deliver direct to your home ... fantastic no mess and its all organic so the best possible nutrition. I'm sure there must be companies all around the UK doing the same thing so maybe its worth investigating?
