I don't know about anyone else, but for me the prospect of weaning seemed to be a terrifying experience. I mean, you are laying down the foundation for your offspring's eating habits- something that will affect them for the rest of their lives. I felt completely overwhelmed at what I had to do! When my son reached the ... Read the complete review

Motherhood is an important and precious job. Pardon me for my old-fashioned ways, but I think moms of newborns ought to be staying home to take care of their delightful new creatures. The best food for a newborn is mother's milk. It has just the right nutrients for their immature digestive systems. Infants who are given only mother's ... Read the complete review

I have found that adding some cereal in their bottles when they are at least 3 weeks old helps them to sleep thru the night. I have 3 boys and all of them slept thru the night when I added the cereal. I used Gerber Rice cereal and they loved it. I recently put some in my preemies bottle and it helped alot. The doctors don't really like you ... Read the complete review

Recently whilst shopping in Boots I saw a new product for Toddlers - Boots Strawberry Milkshake Powder. A brand new product the assistant told me, last tub on the shelf. That coud be nice I thought - give him-in-doors a change instead of boring old milk. Boy was I wrong. It says add 1 teaspoon to milk and shake for 30 seconds. ... Read the complete review

We all get told by health visitors, relatives and friends that the best baby food for weaning is to make your own at home; it gets baby used to the sort of foods that you eat (which eventually you will want baby to be eating too), as well as being relatively cheap and having the advantage that you know exactly what is in your baby's food. ... Finger food. Yummy, nibbly little morsels that babies start to eat at around 6 months to aid manual dexterity and the development of the jaw muscles - important for speech in later life. So far so good. what the books couldn't tell me is why, at seven months, my daughter refused point-blank to eat anything else. Did you know that ... Read the complete review

Every new mum will know how daunting it is just thinking about feeding your baby nutritious meals that you have prepared yourself! Finding out what they like and what they don't,they always let you know in the end either by crying or turning there little noses up at it or plain old projectile vomiting(yuck)! When I first ... I wanted to be creative with my daughter, I used to give her the Heinz tins as a baby but once she reached her first birthday and ready for solids, I tried to give her a variety of foods and introduce to her a variety of food. She used to love the children yoghurts, all the flavours, raspberry, blackberry, peace, banana and after her meal she ... Read the complete review

At around 4 months old, you may notice a change in your baby, if they start waking for a feed at night when before they have slept through, if they seem hungrier that usual and if they are chewing on their fists it is probably time to start weaning your child onto their first solids. The first foods you give your baby need to be pureedso ... Read the complete review

It is not always advisable to follow the advice of health visitors and midwives to the letter. They say you should not start weaning a baby onto solid food before the age of four months. Now I know this is the ideal time for a lot of people but not for everyone. All my children were very big eaters as babies even though they were ... Read the complete review

As a mum I know how hard it can be deciding when the time is right to give solids so in this opinion I hope to help some parents. Some mothers feel that they ought to move their child on to 'real food' but its easier and more natural to go at your babys pace.If she/he is at least four months old and does not seem satisfied with milk alone ... Every parent is concerned for his or her child as soon as it is born, hence the fact that all that comes in contact with your baby is sterile and clean. The bottles are sterilised so are dummies etc, the clothes are always clean and so is baby – that is until they throw up of course! So when it comes to their first solid food what ... If, like me you havent got a lot of freezer space I suggest when your baby is at the stage of weaning where he/she has tried a variety of things freeze a small portion of each different meal you wish to give your baby instead of large batches of the same meal. We all want to give our babies the best start in life, so when I was weaning my daughter I decided to give her organic food when I was unable to give her home cooked food. I weaned my daughter on home made foods from 4 months. I started with basic fruit and vegetable purees and progressed to giving her the food that my husband and I eat now. I found it was the best way I knew of controlling what she was eating. Unlike manufactured baby foods, I knew that what she ate was 100% fresh and pure with NO added extras. ... I breastfeed my twins to give them my best and wanted to do the same with the solids I feed them. I started them on solids at 10 months. I started with rice cereal made with my breastmilk.
