My son Benjamin will be 10 months old in a few days time. Over the past three or four weeks I have been struggling to feed him any foods,he just wants to feed himself.I don't mind this,it's lovely to see him becoming more independant but he becomes very frustrated. He often manages to get food onto the spoon but it falls off before ... Read the complete review

When I started my baby on finger foods at around 6 months old, I found that a lot of foods were a little difficult for her to chew, and that she choked easily. I knew that she loved cheese, so bought a packet of Dairly Lea strip cheese for her to try. It was the ideal solution, as they are soft strips of cheese and she had no trouble at ... i discovered a new drink for my baby this weekend,... while browsing the local boots store for babyfoods a went to the babydrinks counter and was tempted to buy some baby juice but as my daughter now has teeth i wasn't sure weather to treat her or not but then I spied a carton of 'Boots sugar free baby drink' it comes in a powder form ... My neighbour has an autistic 5 year old, and being the fantastic mother that she is, she is trying a few unrecognised treatments to help him. One thing she heard about from the National Autism Society, was the cutting out gluten from his diet. But, being a medically unrecognised treatment (hopefully, this will change sooner rather than later) ... Read the complete review

I've persevered and tried to wean both my kids (now 2years and 13 months) on home cooked food with the occasional jar. I just thought I'd recommend lentils as both mine love them (I must admit I'm not overly keen at all), they're so cheap, make a fantastic puree (I do mine with leeks and cheese all whizzed up) and ... Can we not feed our children real food and stop or at least delay the lifelong drive to get kids on to junk food. Yes I am sure that all the companies that sell baby foods have there best interests at heart and scientifically try out all the products to check that only the best ingredients are being used but just look at what they are adding to ... I'd like to recommend homemade babyfood. It is so much cheaper than bought stuff, has more flavour, and you know what's in it. It is more time consuming to make for busy mums/dads, but I find a big panful of whatever I'm making will do about a dozen frozen portions, plus I can often give a portion to my husband for his dinner ... My son who is 10 mths old hates anything with lumps in, i tried even making it thicker but he spits it out or is sick as a dog. So i have just left him on pureed food as he loves beans and sausages pureed and spaghetti bolognese , he will eat anything as long as it is pureed. But he loves biscuits and fruit and rusks and toast to ... Read the complete review

Not everyone knows the correct dietary information for weaning babies. Neither do I for that matter but I am the father of two, Jack 2 and Poppy 11 months. Did you know that a 6 month old needs at least 1000 calories a day! Amazing isn't it? Did you also know, that a jar of Heinz babyfoods from 4 months only contains between 150 and 250 ... My daughter is 9 months now and I weaned her onto home cooked veggies at 3.5 months. She ate everything put infront of her til she was about 6 months old, then she refused anything savoury! She would still eat the home made fruit purees, but anyhting savoury - no chance. I didn't want her to develop a sweet tooth so I resorted to ... Read the complete review

I recently started trying to wean my 7 month old son onto more lumpy foods and have found that it is not easy at all! Part of the problem is that he is also teething, he has 4 teeth through now, and so he finds eating at all a bit of a "pain" sometimes. I've found that some of the 7 month varieties of baby food you can ... Read the complete review

Once your child has reached the magical six months and you can start feeding him or her glutenous (is that the right word?) foodstuffs I recommend Weetabix for breakfast! My children are now five and three, and still eat it every day. There is no Tony the Tiger in our house I'm glad to say. As they get older, and believe ... Read the complete review

I weaned Jack quite early and he seemed to love vegetables and I would give him all sorts of combinations, but over the last few weeks he has refused to eat any savoury at all. So now I have to spike his savoury with fruit, apple or pear puree. He will not even eat any jars of food Boots, Hipp organic unless its got some kind of fruit in it. ... Read the complete review

Monosodium Glutamate is banned in food for babies and young children. But how many of us give crisps etc as snacks for your toddlers, which contain MSG, it may be listed as E621. MSG 'tricks' the brain into thinking food tastes good. It triggers the release of insulin, which in turn releases our fat storage trigger, so creating ... Read the complete review

In an attempt to ensure my daughter was getting good quality foods with no e numbers, sugar, salt etc as well as as much organic as possible not to mention keep costs down I have prepared virtually all her meals, she is now 18 months and has had maybe 6 or 7 jars in her life, I do however buy rusks (organic) from Boots and organic porridge, ... cheesy wotsits saved my life. bold statement i know but they give me peace and quite for half an hour while my son munches he way through them, they are really good crisps for babies as they help them learn to eat 'chewy' food yet you have the reassurance that if he gets one stuck they are likely to melt faster than you can get it ...
