Advantages: Convienient size

Disadvantages: Expensive

Isn't it funny how society can con you into thinking you actually need something especially when it comes to babies and children? When I got pregnant I wrote a list of every single thing I thought I would need and then went back through the list and looked at the 'Definates' and 'Maybe's'. The baby towels were on the 'Definates' list without a doubt. Even when I went to the shop and saw how darn expensive they were, I still bought some.

For those of you who aren't up to date with all the baby lingo and equipment then I will explain what a baby towel is. Basically you take a small towel about the size of a hand towel (maybe a bit bigger) and you attach a hood to it.....Voila! There you have a 'Baby towel'.

It seems to me that the hooded part of a towel adds an extra ten pounds to it. The shops charge a bomb for these things! But we all know that when it comes to babies, society has a way of making you feel like a bad parent if you don't have all the new gadgets. They know that you will probably fall into the trap of thinking that you need just about every new product that hits the shelf and so they give it an extortionate price tag.

Hooded towels are great for tiny newborns. The fact that they keep your newborns head cosy and warm when you get them out of the bath is brillient and convienient. There is just enough mterial to wrap your tiny baby up like the baby Jesus and get them all nice and dry. As soon as they grow a bit their legs stick out of the bottom and it soon becomes clear that you won't have a baby Jesus for long. Having said that my two year old grew out of these a long time a go and I still use them on him although I tend to just dry him with them now rather than wrap him up.

I think the greatest thing about these towels are the fact that a baby looks so stunningly cute wrapped up in one (Not the fact that they dry them! hah!). There is just nothing cuter than a naked baby wrapped all cosy in one of these!

If you do fancy a few for your baby thn you can pick them up at most baby related shops and even places that stock baby clothes will probably have a few hanging around. Be prepared to pay a bit of a hefty price for them though.

In my humble opinion these towels aren't really worth paying out for and a normal towel will do the same job.

Summary: Not worth the money.
