Advantages: They fit on your head and don't keep slipping off as you run around the house

Disadvantages: You bought them for the BABY, right?

Baby bath towels are very small towels with a hood bit on one corner. They're about the right size to wrap a small baby in - up to six months, absolute tops. And the hood part fits over their head, which makes it a bit easier to wrap them up. You're often in a hurry to get them warm and dry after a bath, and small babies are slippery (and usually yelling their heads off at this point). So every little helps.

However, if you're on a budget, you don't need these. You have towels, don't you? Use those. A normal towel works as well. A hand towel to start with, then a small bath towel as they get bigger.

However, here are some reasons why you might get some:

They're very cute. I particularly like the one that we have with bunny ears on the hood. It makes for some good photo moments.

Someone will buy you some - they're fairly high up the list of things people think you'd want as a present

Babies get through more towels (and sheets, and clothes, and just everything) than you could imagine. You'll need more towels of some sort! So you might as well indulge in the cute baby ones.

They're small and thinner and they dry quickly, which is handy.

You might like to keep your baby's towel separate from your own.

But here is the top reason. When your baby is a toddler (or 3 or 5 or 7 years old), a hooded baby towel makes a GREAT superhero cape. The hooded bit goes on their head, and they race around the house. This provides hours of entertainment. I'm sure this is what they were really invented for (ask my children). Given the amount I have spent on dressing-up clothes, I think this is a perfectly valid second use for a baby towel.

And we all like dual-purpose baby equipment, don't we?

Summary: They do have their uses

Sorry for low rate but I would have expected more on how they are useful for keeping baby warm after bathing, drying hair etc.
