Advantages: no little person in your bed

Disadvantages: it means getting up if they wake during the night

All of our friends have allowed there children to sleep in there beds from babys, then they wonder why they still have a 5 year old jumping into there bed every single night.

Not me i said right from the start and yes i have stuck to my word not one single night have either of my children been allowed to get into my bed.

Yes i know a lot of people especially my friends think i am horrible but it works for us.

I had both our babys sleeping in a cot in our room untill they slept through the night but after that they went into there own rooms, no problem at all.

If on the very rare occasion my child wakes during the night i go into them and settle them back down in there room and sit with them untill they are asleep.

7.30pm is bed time in our house for the girls and by 8pm they are both fast asleep and i very rarely hear a peep out of them again untill around 7 am the next morning and even then they stay in there own room and call me.

This works well for us, you realy do need your own space and it is easier to establish a routine when they are young.

Summary: my bed is a child free zone
