Advantages: you both get some sleep

Disadvantages: you might have to keep getting up if they cry

I would advise parents not to bring your baby in to your bed. If you put your newborn baby in to the habit of sleeping in the cot s/he will most probably kep that habit as they grow. However if you bring them in to your bed, it will be very difficult to get them to sleep separately.

My baby has been sleeping in her cot since shewas about 3 months. She now cannot sleep in the bed with us because she needs her space. She gets uncomfortable. She prefers sleeping in the cot because she can move freely, actually she is only 6 months but i feel that she will be more comfortable if she had her own bed.

Just some brief advise, get your child used to sleeping on their own, its easier for both the parents and the child.

I get my daughter to fall asleep by herself in her crib and when she wakes for her feed (around 5-8am) I let her come into the bed with us.

We found that the odd night in with us did no harm at all when the children were babies. It couldn't last though as l always had that fear of rolling on the baby (no matter what the 'experts' said).
