Advantages: romantic,relaxing and cheaper than going out

Disadvantages: none-not even if the baby wakes

Since giving birth to our daughter 4 months ago my husband and I haven't spent a lot of time together. I am certain this applies to nearly all couples, we become wrapped up in nappies, feeds, baths and bedtime as well as all the household chores.

My husband and I sometimes feel too exhausted to even turn the tv over. So I had a pleasant surprise when he asked
'would you like to come out to dinner?' What a wonderful idea, but typically I worried about babysitters, and I'm still breastfeeding so my time is governed by her feeds etc etc, the list was endless.

He then said I don't mean out to a restaurant, I mean at home. He had a great idea of acting as if we were going out. We had a long bath, put on our best togs, I even put make up on, which is normally a low priority with the little one to deal with. He had planned a pleasant surprise whilst I was having a bath.

We weren't allowed to bump into each other whilst changing so it was like a real date.

He had laid the table beautifully, all our best china and crystal glasses, candles, soft music and he had cooked a 3 course meal with all the same trimmings that we would have had at a restaurant.

It was absolutely wonderful, it brought the spark back to our relationship and we made time to talk and laugh, and surprisingly we didn't feel tired.

It's something I would recommend to all parents out there, you don't need to leave your home or spend a fortune. Bring the restaurant and ambience into your own home. You won't regret it.
