I have 2 daughters who are 4 and 17 months. I decided to have children and take a step back in my carer as I really wanted to have a family and have always loved children.

I was the eldest of 3 children and my parents divorced when I was young. I got used to living with my brother and sister and just my mum. I was my siblings babysitter for quite a while as my mum was always at work and I was 12 years older, so I looked after them. I have always been round children so I couldn't wait to start a family. I made sure I had my own house and was happy settled with my partner. I think it s silly to rush into having kids as it would be dreadful not to be able to support your family.

I still work full time but I always find time for my children. We have "us time" where we spend days out as a family. We like to take the girls out to the park or go for day trips out. I think a big part to being a parent is actually spending time and making that time to spend with your child. My girls are my world and I really would do anything for them.

I do not really believe in striking children. I have tapped my girls on the hand just to sow that they have been bad but I do think this is just encouraging children to smack back. I believe that a firm telling off is acceptable and I do often send my 4 year old to her bedroom if she has been exceptionally bad. I try not to shout at her too often.

Looking after children and being a parent is very tiring and very hard at times. You have to be very patient and need to learn to give or take as children will wrap you around their little fingers (its only natural) This however is an extremely rewarding job and I feel very privileged to be a parent. I think I am extremely lucky to have my girls. Children are a gift. Respect them, love them and look after them.

Now all I need to do is get around my other half so I can have another hehe
