Nothing can change your life as much as becoming a parent does. From the start of your pregnancy, things start to change and will continue to do so, because you will always be the parent of that child. Becoming a parent teaches you so much. Until I had my daughter, I never knew that I could be so patient. I never knew that I could still play with her in the morning although I had not had any sleep the night before. Giving birth to a child is one thing, but bringing that child up well is another much more difficult thing. For a parent, their child or children become the most important people in their lives and most parents will sacrifice many things for their children. As parents we have an unconditional love for our children. This is the most beautiful thing about being a parent. You have this unconditional love for your child and we don't expect our children to have the same feelings. A childs love for his / her parents is not the same as a parents love for their child. Having children changes your life, financially, mentally, phisically, it also has an affect on your relationships with people you love. It changes your realtionship with your own parents, you begin to see them differently. After having my baby, I began to appreciate my parents and realized what they had gone through to bring me up and give me the best they could. Your relationship with your partner also changes. You have to work harder on your relationship, it is a big change for both of you. An importan thing is that you should not neglect your relationship, you have to work at it to make it work. For me becoming a parent has been a learning experience, but a good one.

- 20/05/03 It is obvious reading your op`s that becoming a parent has changed your life, and you yourself have recognised the need to re-evaluate your entire being. Your questioning shows that you want to be a good parent but don?t try to find all the answers without living your life. Your life has changed not ended. Yet another thought provoking posting. Don?t think too hard live a little.

- 12/10/01 Your words ring very true. Becoming pregnant and than having your child does definitely change things. For the better most of the time. It is a adjustment that you and your partner have to go through. Once you have become somewhat adjusted to the child it becomes better everyday. Think about your child looking up at you and giving you a big hug. Or your child looking up at you with big eyes and saying I love you very much. It is a experience I would not trade for all the money in the world. Great op. |
