Boarding SchoolsNewest Review: ... sitting on my bed pulling me onto his lap hugging me and telling me that if i ever needed him he would be there in a flash. From then on school, my friends and teachers became my family. I know when people read books like Malory towers boarding school is portrayed as midnight feasts, adventures and jolly hockey sticks, but when i was at prep school, after school finished at 5:30, it would ... more |

I was sent to boarding school when i was eight, my brother is ten years older than me and was at Cambridge university studying law, so my father thought that Cambridge was the perfect place to send me to school. My Mother died when i was born and my father spent a lot of time traveling due to his business so boarding school seemed an obvious option to him rather than a constant stream of different nannies. I remember my first memory of boarding school being my big brother helping me up to my dorm with my trunk on my first day of term, sitting on my bed pulling me onto his lap hugging me and telling me that if i ever needed him he would be there in a flash. ... it depends why children are sent to boarding school in my opinion if family is not around then it may be in the be interest of the child for them to go to a boarding school to get a steady education. personally i could never send my child to a boarding school simply because i like to know what is going on at all times and would not feel that i had control over my own child. i want to make sure that my child grows up with all the love and attention he needs and in my opinion family are the best people to give that to a child. i would not like being away from my child for so long but thats me personally. i know someone who had a child and they were put in boarding school ... My elder sister and brother were sent to a school in Shaftesbury at the ages of 12 and 14 because my parents were in the army and at the time and they felt it would be better for them to get a steady education rather than be put into a different school every year or two. I remember when they first left home, it felt really weird without them there, and my parents kept telling me and my younger brother that they were really enjoying the experience and that we should be happy for them because they were being given the chance to gain ... What Is It? This is the opposite to a day school, attending a boarding school involves actually sleeping over at the school, and although there is leave and visiting days, the school becomes the soul lodgings for the child. Different Boarding Schools - Weekly There are different types of boarding school, each offering their own personal regimes. For instance, there is a weekly boarding school, where the child will attend school 24 hours a day for a week and will then be allowed to leave and return home for the weekend. This all depends on how far one lives from the boarding school. Practicality should play a major part in your choice of ... Read the complete review

I teach in a boarding school.Bearing that in mind, I have read over a period of time the opinions written on boarding. It must be said none of them were especially positive and I can see why. Boarding up until relatively recently was a whole different ball game to the one it is now. I have been in my present school for ten years and the whole nature has changed beyond all measure in the last few years. So, in order to give the other side of the coin I have decided to share with you my experiences. The school I teach in is a prep school. In the main school we have years three to eight inclusively. We also have a pre prep and kindergarten but boarding is not an ... Read the complete review
