Ok, so their not the most attractive things in the world. Its like wearing sanitry towels on your boobs! However, they are a must! When my milk came through, I had enough to open my own dairy (!) and because my daughter was 5 weeks early, she wasnt eating much as she was so small. I wanted to breastfeed so I just expressed my milk, filling up jar after jar after jar! At the times I wasnt expressing or trying to breastfeed I was leaking loads! One nurse even said to me "wow, thats the first time I have ever seen milk shoot through a t-shirt so far that it can hit me in the face!" And believe me, she meant it!
While my daughter was sleeping in the special care unit, I ran to boots to buy breast pads. Wonderful!!! No more leaky patches on my clothes and they are really cheap! After a while, you milk settles down and you dont really need them, but they are a must at first, especially if you are going to breastfeed.
