Advantages: Easier, No long labour.
Disadvantages: Scars, May not be able to look after baby.
I've had 2 ceasearians, 1 planned 1 emergency, but this opinion is about my last one, the planned one. I had planned all the way through my pregnancy to have a caecarian, after having one before, they agreed with me, no one tried totalk me out of it at all, which was good as nothing was gonna change my mind about it! After all the waiting we went to the hospital, had a date arranged, and a time..it was so exciting! Knowing the EXACT date of our babies birth :) Anyways, the morning to go to the hospital came, I was the first one of that morning, and as nervous as hell!! I know, I'd had one before, but that was an emergency one, no time to think about it, this one, I'd had 9 months to think of all the good, and bad things!! Well, I was on the bed, in a pre op room, shaking like a leaf, when a doctor came in and asked me if I'd mind waiting as they had an emergency caesarian just in. I said I didn't mind, funny, I was both dreading it, and wanting it over! Anyway, my time came, I went to the anesthersist room, had a horroble needle in my hand ( I HATE NEEDLES!!!), and even horribler one in the lower back, (A spinal block) And after throwing up on everything that moved, and everything that stood still was an easier target, I was wheeled into the operating room. I saw the big operating light, they have over the bed, that freaked me out, till I saw Steven, my Fiance waiting for me, that made me feel better :) After checking I was numb (Not dumb lol!) They began. I was terrified! But I was just lying there, talking to Steven, as he watched (He loves gore!!) I could feel it, it was like tiny fairies in my tummy, fluttering aroung :) I t was a nice feeling! After what seemed like 5 minutes, Steven was handed a beautiful little baby girl! Rebecca Lauren, weighing in at 8 pounds, 8 oz! I saw her, and was instantly in love!! We were left for a while in
a recovery room, where I had to sit up, I was dreading this, after last time, but with a tiny bit of help, I was able to sit up! I was so pleased with myself!! Rebecca and I were checked over, then tranfered to the ward. She was as good as gold! And, to my amazement, I was able to look after her all by myself, I could get up, and eveything! The midwife were all astounded, they couldn't belive I had her in the morning! I hardly needed any drugs, just for the nightime to help me sleep, apart from that we were both doing better than well!! I could walk down to the breakfast room, and all sorts!! Baisically, everything they tell you that you wont be able to do, I did it!! I was asked how I did it. I had will power, and motivation, my daughter. I wanted to look after her myself so much, I just did it! I didn't want the midwives looking after her, after I spent one night I was sick of seeing them ignoring babies, leaving them crying for hours, and hours! When we got home, she was the perfect baby, she slept through all night the 1st night home, and still does! We've never had a sleepless night. Lucky eh?!! She still is a very good baby, and on our next baby I will definately have another caesarian, only I will be awake. My 1st one I was asleep, and had one hell of a time, I couldn't get out of bed for days, I was as sick as hell, also my baby was very poorly too, I was told it was the drugs, and he was in an incubator for a while. They do tell you it is better to be awake, and I can agree with that, after having one of both. But if you are having one, don't worry about it, it is honestly never as bad as your imagination will tell you it is :)
