Advantages: can look as much or as little as you want

Disadvantages: another thing to pack in the bag

A hand mirror is also a good thing to take if you are having a planned caesarean. I found that I could not see my incision because my stomach was still so big it was in the way. The midwife had told me to take off the adhesive strips (plasters) on it after getting out of the shower but there was no way I was doing that unless I could see where they were. Also I was somewhat curious to know how the scar was looking and how well it was healing.

I'd never thought about using it for a caesarean too!

Yes, a hand mirror is a handy tool at times!
