Keeping children safe at home
common sense must be shown
no more burns and no more shocks
we will show how to secure those locks

Bubbling pots not making a sound
grab those handles and turn them round
very sharp knives out on show
in the drawer they must go

Pussy’s food laid on the floor
take baby out and shut the door
better still get a safety gate
so pussy is safe while he ate

Toaster lead hanging off the side
wrap it up or baby will be fried
a cup of tea for you and me
it’s too near the edge, can’t you see

Outside, toddler wants to play
the gate is locked, so that’s okay
no garden tools left outside
so the rake and toddler can’t collide

No harmful chemicals left in view
or you will have to make that baby spew
keep that shed locked up so tight
or get inside, that toddler might

Keep baby’s fingers nice and snug
by getting plastic covers for your plug
better still, dip hands in pockets
and get some covers for those sockets

Live up in a block so high
don’t want to see that baby fly
get some locks for the window frame
then you won’t be the one to blame

Are you going in the car?
a baby seat is best by far
a steady speed with kids aboard
no accidents here, thank the Lord.

Out to the shops you both do go
in and out of the traffic flow
don’t trust anything but your faith
hold their hands to keep them safe

Don’t subject them to any danger
teach them all about the stranger
teach them how to cross the road
so they will be in safety mode

When they grow bigger they will see
how mummy and daddy looked after me
and to their friends they will tell
“life wasn’t such a living hell”
