*weaning stage*
When i came to the point of weeing my daughter, i went to sainsburys and had a good look at all the baby food. I was attracted to the hip organic stage one as it had a big sign sayin 9 jars for £4. I was worried alot would get wasted but it says "once opened eat within 24 hours" and my daughter really liked them so none got wasted. The jars i chose were banana yogurt breakfast as my daughter is a huge fan of banana, cauliflower cheese, cottage pie, sweet squash and chicken, mango and banana melba and mixed vegetable medley. There wasnt a single taste my daughter didnt like so each time i went shopping i tried to get something different.
The consistency once the jar is open is very much like cream cheese. Once poored into a bowl and warmed it goes very runny. My daughter got extremely messy and i couldnt wait to move her onto thicker food. To me, all the savoury jars smell of a pasta sauce no matter what was in them, i thought this could be a bit boring but my daughter has never complained.
*stage one flavours*
Breakfast jars- Apple & Cranberry Breakfast, Banana Yogurt Breakfast, Creamy Rice Breakfast.
Savoury jars- Cauliflower Cheese, Cheesy Spinach & Potato Bake, Cottage Pie, Creamy Parsnip, Potato & Cauliflower Creamy Parsnip Potato & Cauliflower, Mixed Vegetable Medley, Sweet Squash & Chicken, Tender Carrots & Potatoes, Vegetable & Beef Hotpot, Vegetable & Lentil Bake, Vegetable & Turkey Casserole, Vegetables with Rice & Chicken.
Desert jars- Apple & Banana Puree, Apple & Blueberry Dessert, Apple & Pear Pudding, Banana & Peach Dessert, Banana & Rice Pudding, Banana Custard, Mango & Banana Melba, Red Fruit & Apple Compote, Rice Pudding, William Christ Pears.
Aswell as jars your can also get pots. The wholesome pots come with 2 pots, breakfast pots come with 4 pots, dessert pots come with 4 pots and you can also get dry cereal which lasted me about a month. Wholesome pots range from around £1.87 in asda, dessert pots range from £1.50 or 3 for £4 from asda and dry cereal is about £2 or 3 for £5.
This stage of baby food can be used from 4months although its not recommended to start your baby until 6 months unless youve been told to do so by a doctor or health visitor. The jars average from shop to shop. In asda you can pick them up for 62p a jar or a special offer of 10 jars for £5. Thats just 50p a jar. Sainsburys sell them at 9 jars for £6. All baby jars are gm ingerident free, milk free, soya free, wheat free, egg free, gluten free, nut free and are suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
Everything that goes into this jar is pefect to give your child the best start in life. You can also get a variety of weening stage jars and food that start from 6months.
*Stage 2 from 7months*
The day my daughter turned 7months i was very lucky as she was on her last jar so i went out and bought her 10 jars for £6 from asda. I was a little worried about the amount of lumps and pasta i found but my daughter had no problems. I was very happy with the end result as my daughter was full and not very messy. I much prefer this stage to stage 1!
*Stage 2 flavours*
There is a large list of flavours so i will list my daughters favorites.
*breakfast jars*- Creamy rice porridge
*Savoury jars*- Caribbean Casserole with Chicken, Cheesy Pasta Bake, Mediterranean Potato & Lamb, Pasta Italienne with Ham, Rigatoni Napoli, Spaghetti Carbonara, Vegetable & Chicken Risotto and Vegetable, Pork & Apple Roast Dinner.
*Dessert jars*- Cocoa & Vanilla Dessert. My daughter loves this jar the most. Im happy to buy it on a regular basis as i no its not crammed full of sugar.
Like stage one you can also get dried cereals, wholesome pots and fruit pots.
*Snacks and Drinks*
To go with your babys dinner or when out and about you can get crumble rusks which are stage 1 from 6months. You can also get rice cakes stage 2 from 7months.
I try to encourage my daughter to have a drink with a meal so i decided to buy her apple and grape juice stage 1. To start with my daughter kept spitting it out so i tried it and can now see why, its very sharp and leaves a sweet taste so i added alot of water and warmed it slighly now my daughter is happy to drink it. You can also get juices with mineral water to save you watering it yourself. These juices come in 750ml bottles. That have a smaller 200ml which it mineral water with a splash of juice which is perfect if you on the go.
Overall im extremely satisfied with the way my daughter is making progress and alot of that id due to the wonderfull taste and easy to swallow hipp organic baby food range.
Summary: wouldnt try any other baby food
