Hosptal birth gave me peace of mind (Hospital Births)

Advantages: Reassurance, loverly cup of tea and lots of support

Disadvantages: On call doctors were not as clued up on your file and so were not as good

I was very fortunate as i got to attend a wonderful hospital in Warwick, Im not sure women in my area actually have that choice now.....and i may not be for hospital births if i had a horrible experience like some of my friends.

I had two very difficult pregnacies and my consultant and midwifes there were brilliant at the hospital (the on call doctors were a little less impressive see my reveiw on post natal depression and you will understand what i mean)

When it came to the births of my two children both were really great, we were given a private room with an ensuite bathroom, a cd player and tv...(much to my hubbys delight...he had to catch the footie scores...cheeky moo!!)
They provided me with a birthing ball and ice cubes, lucozade tablets, fresh water, tea and snack for me and lots of coffe for my hubby to keep him awake!!!

I think that my experience of hospital birth was brilliant but that was because i had a great support around me with great midwifes, and a birth plan all wrote out ready to follow (not that i followed that to the letter.....on the first one it said...NO DRUGS....i was screaming for them after 15 hours by that time it was too late)

I think that due to my bad pregnancies being hospital gave me the reasurrance that if anything was wrong the babies were in the best place.

I found that if you talked to the midwives then they were very supportive of your opinions and needs, and they never forced anything onto me.

i also was impressed with the aftercare especially after my first child, they showed me how to bath him, top to tail, they helped me with breast feeding support also.

Summary: Hospital birth was good for me but mainly due to a great hospital
