Advantages: Having medical help around you if you need it.

Disadvantages: Your partner not being able to stay and help you at night.

With me I didn't have a choice whether to have home birth or a hospital birth, as I was having twins they said the safest option for me and the babies was hospital.

My experience in hospital was ok but it definately could have been better. I had a good pregnancy and the birth of my two girls went well I had an epidural and a bit of gas and air and my two girls were born safely and healthily. The midwife I had was great and helped me out a lot. When I had given birth and went up to the ward I had my own room and I had received lots of balloons and flowers they asked me after a couple days to get someone to take some home as I had to many. I did have some help at the nights with the girls as I was knackered and needed to rest so they went into the nursery and the nurses gave them the night feed. Up to then all had been fine some of the nurses were lovely but a couple weren't so nice.

I had been having a bit of trouble walking and after some tests they thought that I may have a blood clot so I got told not to get out of bed they put support on my legs In case I did have one so it wouldn't move. I found it quite difficult not being able to move around and get things for my girls, the first couple days I had tried to breastfeed but I didn't really take to it so I was bottle feeding. I got told when I wanted a bottle for them I should just ring the bell and a nurse would get it for me as I wasn't allowed to move. When my husband arrived he overheard a nurse talking about me saying young mums these days and basically that I was lazy so my husband said to her tell me how to do a bottle and he will do them all, we were furious as I had been told not to move by a nurse that was high up. This was out of order later on the nurse read my notes and apologised but this shouldn't of happened at all I felt very uncomfy in there after this. I also missed my girls having there first bath so I was gutted about that I know it was just dipping them in the water but it is all part of being a mother and learning. Luckily though I didn't have a blood clot so I think in all I was in there for 10days and my girls came out when I did.

I didn't really like the hospital food so I had my husband bring me in food. One thing I don't like about hospitals well the one I had my girls at is that the dads aren't allowed to stay over night having twins I could have done with his help. When he was there in the day he was great but it can't have been very nice leaving us in hospital at night knowing we needed him.
I have to admit some of the nurses were lovely and made me and my babies feel very special it was just the few that weren't so nice. I think most hospital births are very successful and like I said actually giving birth to them and the support I had from everyone then was great.

The main good thing about having a baby in hospital is that if you need medical attention then the help is there. My experience hasn't put me off having another child in a hospital as it wasn't all bad.

Summary: Overall I think hospital births are the safest option.

Very useful.
It would have been easier to read if you had broken up the text with paragraphs.
