Advantages: all aspects of care available if needed

Disadvantages: unclean, understaffed, rushed, uncaring

I have had 3 kids now. My first in the hospital 8 years ago. This wasnt a too bad experience.
For my next birth i decided on a home birth, this was lovely, after I had given birth though it all went wrong and i ended up going in the hospital for 4 days, I needed a blood transfusion, but it was ok staying in.
My third birth I wanted at home again, but because of what happened before i was unable to.
It was an awful experience. The ward (i went in to be induced)was run entirely by students, who did try there best. I was in severe pain and in need of pain relief, but there was no staff on delivery. In the end i gave birth in the lift on the way down to the delivery suite. It was a horrible experience.
I would not ever want this to happen to any body. If you can and are able to, have a home birth, you get the same midwife all the way through till baby is born.

Summary: HOMEBIRTHS ARE BETTER

Oh yes if the drs say you have to have a hospital birth for your own safety, then you should.
But if you have the option of a home birth then go for it.
Also some hospitals are better than others.

I had twins so no option to have them at home - the hospital birth was a great experience though and I was very happy with the level of care I received. Everyone's different though! Caroline xx
