Long process for treatment (Infertility)

Advantages: The possibiliy of getting pregnant

Disadvantages: very stressful

I always had a fear I was infertile so started trying for a baby with little optimism.
After a year of trying I went with my husband to the doctors. My husband was sent for a sperm count which came back fine . I got some blood tests as I did have some symptoms of PCOS but that came back clear. The doctor said that he wouldn't do anything for another year but then we moved and changed doctors and the new GP referred us to Gynaecology.
Actually once you are referred it is a frustrating process of an appointment then a waiting list.
I was initially sent for a bundle of blood tests which all came back fine.
I was referred for a Hysterosalpingogram which showed both my tubes were blocked so I gave up on believing I could get pregnant and was put on the waiting list for a Laparoscopy

The laposcopy showed that only one of my ubes was blocked so then I was put on another waiting list for IUI.

The IUI treatment involved having internal scans to find out which side I was ovulating and when I was due to ovulate.When the egg is large enough I was given an injection to ensure ovulation tales place on the right day.
My husband had to go in on the morning of the insemination ,my husband had to go in early and give a sperm sample. This is prepared which means the poor quality sperm are spun off . THey check the sperm count and if it isn't high enough they do not proceed with the treatment but it was fine.
I had to go later on an lie down on a bed and the sperm was inseminated. I had to lie down for 15 minutes after before I could go home. We were advised to have freqent sex over this period to increase our chances of concieving.
Unfortuanatley THis tretment was not sucessful. I thought i was preparedfor it failing with month after month my period turning up but it hit me real hard.It felt like I had hope of concieving for the first time in ages then it was taken.
The following month I had the scans but for various reasons couldn't have the treatment but was told when I was most likely to ovulate. We did have sex a couple of times over that period. I spent a few weeks waiting for my period and hoping it would come soon so I could have another attempt at treatment but it neve came.
Nine months later my bundle of joy arived.
It is a long had process that is quite frustrating but I appreciate the little miricle my son is.

Summary: It is slow proces but ultimately worht it.
